I have it clearly stated in my auctions--

We do not accept PayPal payments from International bidders Item must be paid with BIDPAY MONEY ORDER. BIDPAY MONEY ORDER MUST BE INITIATED WITHIN 24 HOURS. WE MUST RECEIVE NOTIFICATION FROM BIDPAY WITHIN 24 HOURS!! THESE ARE THE ONLY ACCEPTED METHODS FOR INTERNATIONAL ORDERS.

Three times this week we have had UK bidders pay with paypal. The reason we stopped taking paypal was this-- a couple of months ago, we had a UK bidder do a paypal chargeback of $552.00 because she had to pay duties. she was then in possession of the goods and we were $552.00 in the hole. She said that we were " deceptive" in not letting her know that she had to pay duties. How in this world am I supposed to even begin to know what their duties are??

Anyway, Has anyone else had this same problem??

Yes, & that is why:

I DO NOT ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL PP PAYMENTS!

All Pepe LePew or Boris Badenough has to do is WHINE for ANY fradualent reason under da sun to PayPak & PayPal will immediately YANK the MOOLA out of yer account, leaving YOU, the seller: WITHOUT ANY RECOURSE WHATSOEVER!

You do know to BLOCK THE RECEIPT of NON-USA payments in yer preferences at PP so ya donna have to even think about this?? Right??

GOTO your PP PREFERENCES >> GOTO PAYMENT RECEIVING OPTIONS >> BLOCK NON-USA PAYMENTS

You'll be glad you did & yer complexion will become peachy rosey OVERNIGHT to boot!

<- loves her UK customers and their PayPal payments. I usually take in 3-4k in UK PayPal payments a month and can count the chargebacks on one hand. Since you don't want them, I'll be more than happy to deal with them.

Personally, I wouldn't bid on your auctions due to the tone of the statement or the fact that you are dictating a specific service that comes complete with an additional service charge to me that I must use and telling me I must do it within 24 hours? What are you going o do if I wait 30 hours? Any specific reason you do not accept international money orders? Or cash for that matter? I have recieved 3 cash payments from the UK this week, 2 in USD, 1 in GBP because it's more convenient for the customer and is no sweat off my nose anyway.

You are living in an era of global commerce and in a nation that is in a recession. Why are you trying so hard to turn away money from outside sources?

I have reasons behind all my TOS.
If they don't like the terms, then they are not obligated to bid.
We do about the same volume $2500-$4500) internationally. Yes, I would LOVE to accept all types of payment, but due to the same scenarios happening time after time, we had to pare it down. We used to take any and all payment sources (even personal checks), but have been forced to do away with most. Just because I have rules does NOT mean I am trying to turn away money. On the contrary, I am trying to assure that I do get paid. It is no fun to have 2-$3000.00 in merchandise sitting and waiting weeks for a payment that may or may not be in the mail. It would be much easier for me to accept all methods, but from experience, I just can't.
Reasons--
We do not accept international money orders because it has to be mailed. Our auctions state payment is due within SEVEN days. Most people ignore this choosing to mail their payment on the fifth, sixth, seventh day. OK for the US, but add another week or two for transit time and you have a couple of thousdand dollars worth of merchandise sitting, tying up cash flow and part of the time, the payment never shows. Cash--I wouldn't mail a complete stranger $300, $400, $500 dollars in cash, maybe someone would but why? What if it doesn't make it here? Then they can easily assume I took their money and said that it never made it into my hands. Another couple or so (more) hundred dollars tied up until I re-list and someone else bites.
It is in my auction that it has to be done within 24 hours because the vast majority that do not reply to my end of auction correspondence and at least tell me their intentions around that time frame, they will be a deadbeat. I am not going to turn one away, But when you have an expensive item in limbo and this person won't even answer emails, all is NOT well.

Perhaps if I only had $100.00 or under at stake, it would not be such a big deal.

Another thing, What I sell is a very "emotional" item. I get a lot of dreamers that waste my time and money. They bid on the dress win, then fall off the face of the earth. Once in a while they will email an excuse, My favorite is "My wedding was cancelled, I am so heartbroken" Well, If you are not getting married, why did you bid on other wedding dresses? Yes, there are Bridal Obsessed people out there that fascinated with anything to do with a wedding.

Just curious fenix03, what do you sell?

Classic - LOL, no problem - I know nothing about glass, china, pottery or vintage jewelry, am obseesed with electronics, have amassed a plethora of useless knowledge regarding football and love American Chopper. It's not exactly hard to understand why without an actual name or pic you would assume I am probably a guy

Bride - I sell a little bit of everything. I have ADD so my specialty is easiely shipped items with high profit margins whatever they may be. Long term specificity bores the hell out of me Seriously though, I really do not specialize. I ride the trends as far as ebay goes. I am building up a wholesale website that is directed to the UK that I plan on handing operations of over to a fulfillment company next year when I move to Mexico to, among other things, start a new company to connect small manufacturers and artisans there with the global market (including hopefully a few ebay sellers ).

Why don't you set your PayPal preferences to not accept international payments? That will keep them from sending it through PayPal.

We accept PayPal from Canada, but don't from other "international" sources. The problem is that only US and Canada can have confirmed addresses for US sellers; PP won't protect us at all if we ship to an unconfirmed address.

Is there a way in PP to allow US and Canada but not other countries? I thought it was binary -- everyone or US only.
