I was selling quite steadily from last fall till the middle of August. Then everything died. September was 1/3 of the previous years's volume. I talked with a couple of others in my business and they experienced the same thing too.

July and August were the best months I have ever had. September was down a little but not that much. And I did let all my auctions go off for a couple of days. This month has been real good, but today was real slow.
I don't know what you sell, so I can't really comment on why your sales may be down.
Good Luck

I wouldn't give it a second thought. August and most of September is traditionally the slowest months.
But Christmas season is now starting and the bidding activity is beginning to show that. Be patient and your sales will pick up shortly.

This past September was the worst that I have seen, for both me and one of my family that has been listing for years. This years was 1/2 of what it was last year for me. However, I did notice the looker and watcher counts going up at the end of the month and I did have a few auctions that ended up with some real bidding wars in the last hour. (Picture me smiling) I am currently running a bunch of low end, short term auctions set to end today and I am getting a good response to them. I did try putting a few things out on sale, just to get noticed. That definitely seems to have helped.
One other thing about last month, I noticed that there wasn't much buying going on so I shifted a lot of my inventory over to my ebay store and ran just enough auctions to keep up the exposure. That may have hurt my sales some but I know that I saved on my listing fees.
Good luck figuring people out. I've been trying to do that for the last 10 years.

It seems most people put items on their watchlist, and wait for the last day of auction to bid.
I think the 'watchlist' is one of the worst enhancements eBay ever instituted. It takes the spontaneity out of bidding. Potential bidders are now saving the item to their watchlist & taking the time to think their purchase over. 9/10 times they don't bid.
I'd love to see statistics on eBay sales since this enhancement was made available. I don't think soft sales are just the economy.

My sales of 2004 calendars have really plummeted, but on the bright side, the 2005 are starting to sell much better. So being optimistic, I am taking advantage of a deal from my supplier and buying enough of the 2005's to last me for six or seven years of selling.
