Someone sent me a link today, no idea who it was from Overstock asking me to "be their friend"

What do those mean?

I am planning on registering there this weekend but wonder what that meant

Helen: it is a networking thing that also relates to the prize being given for sign-ups. There are several posts on the pros and cons of this feature. At first, I was against it and just hit decline. The more I get into it, I think it could be a good thing. See my new post "Overstock Sales Report". The first few days have been great.

I love the friend thing! Some that I've said "yes" to bought things from me. I'm also looking at some of their things for myself. It's like sellers working together instead of cut throating one another.

So overstock is just sellers buying amongst themseleves?
