ABSOLUTELY list it! It's gorgeous. The seam can be fixed but not sure about the whole. Disclose all flaws. I don't always put the flaw pictures in my listings, but I do tell about them. If they need a picture then they can email you. You may not get a lot for it, but HALLOWEEN is coming and I've sold 4 leisure suits fot a decent $. Good luck to you!

I agree about the seam tear. I've mended many of those in the past. The hole--depends on where it is on the dress. If it isn't right in the front, it wouldn't matter--especially if it's just for Halloween dress-up.
If it were my dress and I planned to wear it somewhere special, I'd take a hint from the shiny decor on the bodice and perhaps find some similar thing to patch on the skirt (if the hole is in the front). Or make a fabric flower from the fabric, perhaps, to cover the hole. Hmmm.

Thanks Roadsmith...It is on the front but it's towards the bottom in one of the folds of chiffon. What a great idea to hid it with some of the beads or a flower.

I'm listing it tonight margar somewhere around 8-9 o'clock under "Heavily Beaded Long Formal Chiffon Dress ~ Gorgeous ~" Starting price of 4.99 because of the holes...is that a fair price ?
I never hardly ever sell vintage clothes ...I'm listing it under 1947-1964 hope thats right or should I go 1965-76

Sounds fair to me. I will look for it this evening. Is your selling id on ebay "toasted36"??? If not, let me know what the correct seller id is and I will go to your auction for this dress. Thanks!

Toasted, I think the dates you've selected are about right. I do wonder about the $4.99 price, that maybe starting it that low will make browsers think it's junk?
However, I don't sell vintage clothing, and wiser heads here may prevail!

roadsmith your prolly right cause I don't sell vintage clothes either lol but margar said she'd bid at that price so if all i get 4.99 it's ok. A friend just gave me a bunch of vintage clothes so I don't have any money in them. Just time of taking pictures and packing is all.I would just throw it away if it didn't sell...at least margar can give it a good home.

I wouldn't worry about the low listing price- I would be surprised if you don't get a big selling price for it. It's a beautiful gown. Take close-ups of the beads so that the quality of the work is clearly seen.
I often list vintage clothing at low prices. People find it. I recently put up a vintage YSL top with original handwritten French labels and I started it at $1.99 and it sold up around $100.00. Fault me if I'm wrong, but that's been my experience.

Can you add a picture of the back of the dress? I like the idea of covering up the hole with some beading...maybe multiple beads in a spray so it looks more like a pattern than just covering one hole.
Good Luck!

Ok I took it out it's tissue wrap lol already had it ready for shipping and took a couple real quick pics for ya and a close up of the beads . My mavica battery was dying yesterday and the auto focus is not real great when the battery is low. Hope these are good enough and thanks so much for pointing that I didn't have any out to me

I love all those other FINDS you have! Isn't it fun to go back in time! I've been collecting bunches of vintage things like clothes and pottery. Thinking of doing my kitchen over again with 50's stuff. Found some great orange salt & pepper shakers. No clue as to who made them. Got a great ceramic dessert tray with handle too. HOW FUN!

Hi Toasted, beautiful gown, it will go either for Halloween or just to someone who loves vintage. The gown size would be classified as XS or size 2 or 4 depending on the manufacturer. Back then, XS was unheard of, so this might have been a custom gown for someone. You have something very unique. Good luck, Rosanne

epoweryourlife your so right ! It is tons of fun to find old stuff. I think everything was so much prettier 30,40 50 years ago and even prettier 100+ years. I think everyone is in such a hurry to make money now a days that they don't put as much into things.
Thanks mamachia I revised and put XS in the title

Mamachia hit on a raw nerve for me. I've watched "size creep" over my lifetime. When I tell my daughters I had a 19" waist and, when married, wore a size 12, they just hoot. Size 8 and 10 were the very teeniest sizes back in the 50s and 60s, and then, gradually, it changed. Sometimes I wonder where it'll all end. XXXXSmall, MajorPetite??????

That explains a lot!!!! I thought I've been going nuts. I weigh the same as I did in high school some 30 years ago, but I wear a smaller size. I've never been able to explain it. I wore a 7/8 in high school and now it's a 3/4 in most clothes and a 1 in anything Express. I remember back in the early 70's my mother wore a 10 and she was very small. She wears a 14 now and well, she's put on considerable weight. Back in the early 70's, she would have probably been more of a 16 right now. Odd. Now the clothing manufacturers want to trick us into thinking we are getting smaller?

The seam will be easy. You may want to leave the hole as is and just note it. With all the chiffon, it shouldn't be noticed. It looks like a Mike Benet. I wouldn't change anything, They are stll producing those style from the 50's, 60's snd 70's.
