Most people agree that Sunday night is the best day to list on eBay thinking that most of the traffic occurs at that time. It appears to be so. So, if you couldn't list on Sunday night, what night do you feel is second best for listing on a 7 day auction.

I list 10 day auctions on Thursday night @11:00PM. They run through 2 weekends ending on Sunday night. Seven day auctions start on Monday night & go off on Sunday night. I have used this procedure for about 3 yrs. & it works for me. I go into eBay on Monday morning & send out invoices.

I list 10 day auctions EVERYDAY, except for FRIDAYS.
PLUS: I've dramatically DECREASED my auctions but INCREASED my STORE inventory, to the point that my AUCTIONS are mainly to funnel folks into my STORE...
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED that my SALES are WAY UP with a corresponding DECREASE in monthly feeBay BILL (low, low LISTING FEES now)...
The last 6 weeks has been the HAP-HAPP-HAPPIEST for ME-n-RALPHIE on FEE-BAY for about 12mos!

I will disagree that Sunday is the best night to list, but will agree it is the second best. Thursday is clearly the winner for the best day to list. More people are in watching their Thursday prime time shows which allows more of them to multi-task and be online at the same time.

Thursday is my best day to end. 7 day or 5 day doesn't matter just the end time.
I have a lot luck with 5 day start Sat night and end Thur.

Sanmar, please send us a link to one of your "7-day auctions" that start Monday and end Sunday. I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that it ain't working for you that way--getting a 7-day auction. If you list 7-days on Monday, it ends on the following Monday.
List Monday 7 p.m., say, and you start counting the days at TUESDAY 7 P.M. Wed., Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Monday at 7 p.m. - and that makes 7 days.

Hi...good question.
According to Sellathon stats, when people view eBay, 91% go to ending first.
So, we've changed listings on the three sites to 3 days.
We haven't noticed any changes in the $ sales, or sell through.
Anyone else have thoughts?
thanks

Roadsmith, I always thought if you launch at 7:00 pm Monday, that is when your auction starts, so monday is counted as a day?

Neroter: No, Monday 7 p.m. to Tuesday 7 p.m. is ONE day. Tues. to WEd. , another day, etc. You can't list a 7-day auction beginning Monday and ending Sunday.
Think about it. Many of us list on Sunday evenings, and our 7-day auctions END on the following Sunday evening. 7-day auctions will end on exactly the same day of the week they started on.
Many of us list on Thursdays, and our 10-day auctions end on the following Sunday. (Thurs. to Fri. is one day, etc. etc.)
Complicated, isn't it? I had to count on my fingers to get it, 'way back when.

sanmar must be drinking some of that good wine. If you list Monday night it comes off on the following Monday night 7 full days.
I find Monday night and Thursday night are my best. I have never had auctions do any good that come off on Sunday night. Maybe it is what I sell but Sunday is the one day I will never have auctions ending.

While we're on the subject, don't forget that daylight savings time will be ending at the end of this month. Any auctions listed 7 (or 10) days before then will end an hour later than normal.

Sparkz--It seems to me that we've discussed the daylight savings time stuff before--and the group was mixed on whether the auctions end at a different time from what they began at, or whether Ebay adjusts the time somehow. I wonder which is true??

Roadsmith,
There is actually no such thing as a 7 or 10 day auction. It's just a convenient term that Ebay uses. When you list an auction it is for 168 hours, or 240 hours. The auction will end when that time has elapsed, regardless of what time the clock says.

Monday evening 6-9pm has seemed to be the best time to list items. I'd guess people log on then to pay for the stuff they won on Sunday, and end up bidding.

Since the last time change in the spring, all of my auctions are ending an hour later than the starting time. Listed thru SAP.

Hi Yeager...yes, we have the auctions ending on Sunday. Using various eBay metrics, it appears that customer habits - like all of us - go to ending first...click..once on your site, they may go to your other items.
Sure, many people put an item on watch, but for $20-$100, they may review or start comparing.
7 - 10 days, maybe more viewers, but info from our sites didn't indicate any increase in dollar endings or sell through.
There are several sellers using the same theory.
