Someone buys BIN last night and has trouble with checkout. Person has 494 feedback 2 negs. Not glowing feedback either. Sends me 5 emails about her frustration and then sends 2 emails saying she no longer wants it. Complains about shipping charge. She knows it's a binding deal. What do you tell her?
Thanks!

eBay's checkout is simple if that's the one you used. On the other hand, some of the other ones are more complicated than a bidder likes. When she said she was having trouble, I would have sent her a manual invoice. I never make my bidders go through "checkout". Some do, some don't. I'll send the eBay invoice, but I'll also send a manual invoice. It's about 50/50 for me as far as those who use the checkout.

In this instance, I'd tell her I'll let her out of the deal if she pays your fees. She may then just want to go through the deal instead of paying something for nothing. If not, file to get your fees back. I'd be inclined to not leave any feedback at all since it doesn't seem she deliberately tried to rip you off.

Was the shipping charge stated in the auction?

no, determined at end of auction. It weighs about 7 pounds and shipping differs quite a bit for someone in FL or CA compared to IL or IN. It is actually less than most people are paying. I contacted her and said I was sorry that she had difficulty and that since she hadn't paid yet, we'll just call it a done deal. She was fine with that. I have too many things on my plate to sit down and send each person an email with shipping calculated, etc... I think it's awesome that so many of you give such personalized attention to your buyers. I like vendio because it just shoots out the email and I've had many people thank me for the updates-of which I could never keep up doing it on my own. When I see that someone hasn't answered vendio's checkout, then I go into ebay and send an invoice. I've only had 2 people complain so far, so I guess I'll continue.

What I do about shipping charges is in my Payment and Shipping Details I say how much the package weighs which way it is going to go and then I leave my zipcode hoping that they can figure it out. If they can't then they can email me and I will do it.

epower -- Is it possible to attach a shipping calculator? I think that when you put in the weight plus your handling fee, it gives the shipping for the bidder's zip code. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you can add a shipping calculator, just don't know how. Where's Tom? My friend gave me the html to put in one time but when you calculated on it, the rate was always different than in the checkout. So I got rid of it.

FREE & KISS:

http://auctionsupplies.com/calculators/

There are some better ones out there that ya have to cough up moola for, but they allow ya to incorporate yer FEES into the code.

I use FLAT-RATE just because it avoids email tag & confusion.

Every auction states the METHOD & FEE ~ some I "make" a buck or two & some I break even or lose a little, but evens out in the wash & I have virtually eliminated shipping P&Moaning 100%

If you don't state shipping costs in an auction, you leave yourself open to complaints.

I, myself, am tired of paying obscene handle charges. (i.e. shipping figured at end of auction = $4 or more, when actual postage is 60 cents or less).

If you don't care to offer a flat rate, the shipping calculator figures the postage cost for you and allows you to ad handling/packaging charges.

It is tough for a buyer to complain when costs are stated in the auction.

And we wonder why there are less and less buyers on ebay. If every buyer got this crappy of service, there would be no bidders left for the rest of us responsible people.

I have 4 kids 3 to 13. I have 2 businesses. I babysit. I volunteer at the school. I do everything around the house inside and out. My husband is a firefighter and contractor and never home. I'm a Girl Scout leader of 17 girls. Maybe I should cut something out so my buyers get better service.

I am a single dad of two, also a girl scout leader. Am on the PTA board at school. I have no one to clean up after me, so I have to do it.
Gee, that sounds kind of the same chores that we both do. I still find the time to give good customer service. I don't make excuses why not give good customer service. Point is, we all have busy lives and if you are too busy to do auctions, then you need to cut it out of your life.

Never said I didn't give good service. I have absolutely no neg feedback and have given a few refunds. I just don't understand why not use vendio's checkout or ebays.
