Does anyone know how to get around this spam blocker? I have a customer that has written to be twice, but I can't respond because Earthlink won't let my messages through. I tried going through ebay with no luck. I also tried going through my own e-mail address and change the subject line with no luck. Any other ideas?

I don't think you can?? If it's a lot of money or you have free long distance - you can request her phone number from ebay and call her.
Can you try no subject line?
If you don't want to mess with it, you can report this to ebay but she may get suspended for a bad email address. But at least it would get her attention and she would know she has it set too high.
I've had this happen a lot lately - not a lot of fun!
I had one give me a neg for not communicating with her. I'm not about to pay for a long distance phone call on a $5 item. So, I starting reporting them to eBay and let them pay for the phone call. It works.
Several people on here has given reasons for not wanting to be a Power Seller. Well, when you sign in on the Power Seller page and then file a complaint, they get on it. Within a couple of hours they have done something.

Do you have outlook express?
If so. go to "Message", then to "Create Rule for Message" and see if you can put in their a rule for accepting what ever the message is in their subject line. I have no idea if this works but it is worth a try. Also call your tech support at Earthlink and ask them. That is what some of your fees are paying for.

Here is what I have listed in every auction in BIG print.
If you use AOL or Earthlink, please add me to your acceptable e-mail list. AOL and Earthlink considers ebay transmissions as spam and will block legite e-mails.

posted on October 23, 2004 11:45:46 AM newI use Earthlink, and it DOES NOT BLOCK eBAY MAIL, UNLESS THE CUSTOMER HAS EARTHLINK SET UP THAT WAY.
I use the Earthlink spam blocker, but not to the ridiculous extent, which only allows mail, from e-mail addresses which the Earthlink customer personally supplies to Earthlink.
EARTHLINK customers HAVE TO SET THEIR SPAM blocker up in this special manor, and have to supply EARTHLINK with the list of those whose e-mail is acceptable, THEREFORE THE CUSTOMER IS FULLY AWARE THAT THEY CAN NOT RECEIVE E-MAIL FROM A SELLER WHOSE E-MAIL ADDRESS THEY HAVE NOT OKAYED VIA EARTHLINK.
Personally, I would just wait, and if you don't hear from them in a few days, then, I'd turn them into eBay, as a customer with a non-contactable e-mail address and file for credit.
I would probably leave a Neutral, explaining that it is impossible to e-mail them the way they have their Spam Blocker programmed.
Bottom line it isn't Earthlink, it is their customer's choice/fault!

IF you are using Turbo-Lister, or a similar program, you can do a MULTIPLE EDIT, and quickly add this reminder to your auctions automatically.
Thanks, Stonecold, good idea.

The same is true for AOL. AOL does NOT see Ebay as spam automatically. In fact, Ebay and AOL have had a portal partnership for several years now. AOL does have one of the best and most sophisticated spam filters on the internet. The problem is, there are too many users too stupid or too lazy to set these filters properly. Earthlink and AOL are the two largest ISP's in the world. It only stands to reason that since they have the most subscribers, they also have the highest number of idiots.

Sorry folks,
But both AOL and Earthlink automatically default ebay related e-mails to the spam file. This has been the worst kept secret of both companies. There have been many threads about it here. I had a classic one just two weeks ago. I had an AOL user wondering why I wasn't sending the end of auction notice. I would e-mail back stating that I did. He insisted he didn't get one. I resent it. Still not there. Over a weeks time, we finally were online at the same time. I could e-mail him and he would get it, but if I put ebay in an e-mail, it was blocked. Finally, he gave me a non-AOL e-mail address and it went through without a hitch.
That is a classic example why I insist that anyone with AOL or Earthlink adds me to their buddy list.

Stone...The reason this is happening to your customer is that he has been sending Ebay spoof emails to his spam folder. Eventually the AOL spam blocker will pick up these up as spam on a continuing basis and "learn" to block them. I bet all his Paypal email winds up there also, along with any legit email he may get from Citibank. These emails should NEVER be sent to a spam folder. They should be deleted after they are forwared to spoof@ebay. He can look in his spam folder and find every email that has ever wound up there. AOL will not delete an email unless it has a virus attached. The biggest fly in the ointment is if he is running a version of AOL earlier than 9.0. None of the earlier versions have access to the spam folder. If he upgrades to 9.0, he'll probably discover a thousand unread emails in his spam folder.
