In a gas station behind me, 3 weeks now. Attendant has asked me to take it. Cops have looked it over told them call towing Co. No plates, no numbers on tralier. NICE! looks NEW. Appears never registered. 20 feet total. 16 foot bed 6 wide. dual axles. ELECTRIC Brakes!! I want it! But with some release papers from the CORPORATE level of the Station. The attendant said he'd sign a paper. Ah,I don't think so. I would hate to see it go to a towing Co. They will fee this thing to death. I KNOW how to,,,,,make it legal illegally but I REALLY don't want to go that route, and its' very simple,it has NEVER been registered, as it sits it could just as easily be your kids little red wagon left there. I'd like to sell it on e bay. this is an EASY $2000.00 trailer.

I did put a note on it, to any towing co. that MAY end up getting it to contact me.

Ideas?

And OH!! it has a flat tire. Appears the Front AXLE came loose and caused the tire to skid along. Some bolts came out..to just leave it? 3 weeks? I want it!

And for a BETTER picture in your mind,,it was just sitting in the middle of the gas station lot, gas people pushed it off to the side.

If there are no serial numbers, get the gas station manager to sell it to you for $50.00. Emboss your own serial # on it (Jacks 12345 Webb) and register it with DMV as a homemade trailer. List it and sell it. If you have guilt feelings about keeping the money, send it to me

Sparkz,,,,I know, the way it is right now,,,piece of cake, haul it to DMV and tell them it's homemade and register it. But,,,The older I get the less gutsy I am. I like FREEDOM. They don't even want any money. Take it!

I am right on the other side of the fence,,let's say the owner DOES show up. Now what? That's the real problem.

What I would really want to do is RENT this to swapmeeters. I mean, how bad can they SCREW up a TRAIILER? I tried the truck rental thing like crazy,,,,EVERY stinking one of them Destroyed SOMETHING on a truck...Sooo. I sold or am selling on payments the remaining trucks. A Truck is one thing, but a trailer? wood and steal...Rock hard.

Offer to 'store' it for the station. Get it out of there. BTW, would $50 a day be too much for storage? If the owner shows up in a week, Let's see you abandoned it 4 weeks ago......

thats what I'm saying on charging a storage fee...and who won't contact the store after 3 weeks and say oh my trailer broke down outside your store please don't have it towed because I'm coming to pick it up. No contact in 3 weeks the odds are a billion to one that there coming back. Just paint it Jack lol

Offering to Store it on My property, I LIKE that idea. It's STILL here just on the OTHER side of the fence....Clearly visible...give it a FEW more weeks,,,then,,,,to the DMV. possesion IS 9/10th of the law and REGISTERED in My name! Still leary,,,,Damnit I am going over and getting it. At least a rip off tow company won't get some outragious fees, instead of ME

Is it still there or not? If it is, get a bill of sale from the attendant, give him a case of beer to keep quiet, hook up the trailer and go! Take it to your hideout,er, garage and start painting.

If there is no means of identification on the trailer, how could anyone dispute your ownership or prove their ownership. Take it home!

Have a buddy go claim it as his. Make up a sob story about how he had to drop it off so he could rush his pregnant grandmother to the hospital. Have him thank the attendant profusely for taking such good care of it. Hook up to it and take it to your place. Give your buddy the beer instead of the attendant.

Go for it! The cops will probably be glad it is gone, no paperwork to deal with, more time for crime.

Before you take it, you might want to check whether they have high speed internet access inside the slammer - dial-up is a real bummer!
