There were some super ideas on that dead body odor thread but dang if I can find it. Maybe someone come along in a few with a link to it.

I'd like to know this one too. I have a fox jacket that I'd like to get the smell out of and put up for auction before Christmas. Does anyone know how much $$ it costs for professional cleaning? I'm a little leary about taking it to a professional cleaners.

I was thinking of throwing my wife's mink coat in the back of the pickup and running it through a car wash. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Problem is, the plan is so simple, I'm sure there's probably a downside to it somewhere.

I think we're back to the standard question and standard solution.
First air the thing out. Hang it in the shade on a breezy day. If that doesn't work, put it in a closed container with something to eliminate the smell. Febreze, dryer sheet, held-open baggie with fabric freshener saturated cotton balls, whatever suits your fancy. Activated charcoal. Maybe an open box of baking soda or kitty litter.
For a fur, my first approach would be to fluff it all over with a hair dryer set on no heat. That should blow away any dust. You could also gently rub the fur both ways with a faintly damp soft cloth. Then tackle odor.
I've never had a fur professionally cleaned so can't help you out there.
