Before Halloween ends, I have to share this picture of my 9 year old granddaughter. She worked out this costume all by herself. She cut a hole in the top of a box and covered it with a tablecloth. Then she glued a book, glass, tissues, clock etc. on top, stuck a lampshade on her head, and went Trick or Treating as a nightstand!!

Wow! How neat. If she came trick or treating to my house in that outfit, she'd need a wheelbarrel to haul off all the treats we'd give her.

I love the costume. She is definitely creative.
Only a few kids here tonight in NE Oklahoma because it's been rainy almost all day. Closed up shop at about 9:15 after not having anyone for almost an hour.
I got lots of candy because we ran out last year. Now I have lots to try not to eat. May take it to work and try to get rid of it.

Oh, Amber, that's just priceless! Very creative and clever.
Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of one Halloween my middle son was a carrot. The youngest was a robin. The oldest painted his face with glimmery green eye shadow, donned a graduation robe and mortarboard and proclaimed himself an educated lima bean.

Yes, she is a very creative little girl. I have 10 grandchildren, of course, they are all the best! One of Madison's 3 sisters went as a bunch of grapes. She stuck purple balloons all over her, and leaves on her head. The problem was, she ended up looking like a Fruit of the Loom guy!

photosensive-That would have been a problem, except that her 3 sisters were there to help. She won her school's prize for the best costume. My daughter called this morning and said that my just turned 3 granddaughter really got the idea, she kept her little bucket out, and people kept adding to it, then when someone dropped a treat and bent down to pick it up, Madeleine helped herself to a handful of treats. Her older brother was very put out that she got far more than he did!

We live on the very edge of town, gated area, AND local kids have a Halloween parade each year, then hit up the downtown businesses for candy, and call it a night. So no trick or treaters anymore.
But all those years in towns, I'd try to buy candy I didn't like. Trouble was, anything, even taffy, that was left over was still fodder for my snacking. It was hopeless.
Lucy: The educated lima bean takes the grand prize, I think. How very clever! And was this the weekend you were going to Nevada to gamble with your mother? If so, hope you had a good time over there.
