I'm going to try to post a photo here and I hope someone can help me ID this jar.
I think it's Oriental but it's not marked in anyway. It's a friend's and it came from her husband's grandmother's estate.

OK how do I do this photo???

Pretty jar, what makes you think it's oriental? How big is it?

Thanks Max
It's approximately 7 inches tall and has little raised dots.
I found one in a book on Oriental antiques that looked kind of like this one but they called it a cracker jar. Is there a difference?
The grandmother liked Oriental stuff and left him some lovely pieces.

The jar looks European to me, but could be Nippon. Most all Nippon of this quality was marked. The "raised" dots are called "toothpick" enamel because of the way it was applied.

The size and shape suggest Biscuit Jar versus a powder jar which would have been smaller.

If you can give us a pic of the bottom and the inside it would help. Is the porcelain thin? If you hold it up to the light, does it glow thru the side?

It's not thin at all. Sorry but I don't have another photo and I don't have the jar here. She does have a Nippon vase which is beautiful and she will be listing very soon.

Sure looks like Nippon to me. If I were to guess, I'd say cracker jar, but when listing I'd probably say something like "Nippon Floral Footed Cracker/Biscuit Jar" with both listed just to draw both types of collectors. It's a lovely piece!

It's truly lovely. If you had room in your title, "purple" would be smart. There are so many purple-stuff collectors out there! But I like the title suggested above.

I won't be listing it but I'll check with her and see if she cares if I post the item number when she starts.
Thanks
