This looks like a covered butter or cheese dish, but I think it's quite a bit smaller than most I'm used to seeing ... (but it's bigger than child-size) ...
The square-ish blue plate is only 5" across, and the dome is a little less than 3-3/4" across its opening.
So maybe this is used to serve something else? Any opinions please?

I have one just like it. I think it's a cheese dish, it would be perfect for a small round cheese like gouda or brie.

In the old days, butter was sold in different shapes. Some of the shapes were round.
