Trying to create my first shipping labels. Used Word. Labels look pretty good. One question: There is an option to put those bar code thingies on the address. Will those work? Has anyone had any experience with them?

Not only is the BAR-CODE important, but MORE important is the CORRECT USPS AMS format...

Use this to double-check yer addresses & get the proper format PLUS a barcode:

er...to answer yer question, YES, I used to use the MS-WORD generated bar-codes all the time

I use MS Word for my labels when using the pre-printed USPS Priority Labels that the post office supplies. The printer I use is a Lexmark and I turn the label sideways and go to "Tools", "Envelopes and Labels", then "Options" when printing them in MS Word and I use the 6 3/4 size "Envelope" setting and it works perfectly. To put the bar code in the address, you'll see the area where you can check off USA "Delivery Point Barcode" in "Options" - and that should do it.

Befor P/P gave us the option of ptinting postage directly, I set up a template to fit the Priority Mail labels. I would scotch tape the label on a sheet of paper. Type in the new address & print, worked great. Haven't used it in months.
