I'm guessing this line from the Vendio announcement about screwed-up zip codes means that if people are searching for an item within a certain radius, the zip codes drive that search. So if I don't have my zip code in my auction descriptions, it won't work for my auctions. Tell me if I'm wrong.

"You should be able to resolve the error by either changing the zip code to a valid US zip code (please note that if you do this, your item will be included in distance-based searches). . . ."

Would this be used mostly by people looking for large items, like boats, cars, furniture? Any reason someone would need a radius search for, say, a vase?

It also is used for people wanting an item fast. If you are in the same state as the seller you stand a better chance of getting your item within a day or two. I have made several sales because I was closer to the buyer than my competitor.
