Merry Christmas to all you nice folks on this board!!
I had an item end on Dec 21 after 8pm. The bidder paid shortly after the auction ended but I must confess to my undying shame that I didn't jump in the car and run to the post office that night. I waited until the next day and mailed it priority shipping which was what I invoiced and what was paid for. Now he is complaining because (a) he doesn't have it yet and (b) I didn't ask him if he wanted it overnighted. Am I wrong to assume if I charge him for priority that I am not going to ship overnight? I told him when it arrived if he didn't want it to just mark it return to sender and not open and I would refund but he is a newbie and think he is just trying to be a PITA. Maybe Santa didn't bring him what he wanted so he is taking it out on me. One more thing..he told me first that he bid on another item that ended the same day and he got it on the 24th...I looked and that one ended at 6:30 AM so they had all day to get to the post office.

Sucks to be the buyer. If the idiot wanted the item in time for Christmas, he should have bought two weeks earlier.

Parkman...Shame on you. Everyone knows that before you can sell on Ebay, you have to purchase a crystal ball and be able to tell what the customer wants, unless you have the unusual ability that only a few of us possess, which is to look at a bidders ass and read their mind. You should absolutely have shipped overnight and trusted the buyer to send you the extra shipping after the first of the year. You still have time to send him your credit card number so he can purchase the item from a local merchant and not have his Christmas spoiled. Tell him when the item arrives to keep it as compensation for your mistake, and that you will be refunding his payment plus shipping via express mail. After all, customer service is the most important part of being a successful Ebay seller, and that positive feedback you receive from him is absolutely essential to seperate you from the sellers who would email him back and dare suggest he is being unreasonable and unrealistic in addition to being a total idiot.

I'm with you!!! Even if you would have offered next day shipping (as I did) they don't want to pay the extra money! I think some people just like the drama and need to complain to be happy.

Well, he came back and said...if I had offered overnight he would have taken it. This was for a 10.49 item. I think he is just wanting to complain. I bet he won't like it when it gets there and want a refund. Guess who goes on the blocked bidder list.

Well, he signed up in 2000 but only has 22 feedbacks and only one of those in the last year. To his credit...all of the feedbacks are positive.

after he paid you he probably hit himself in the head "why didn't I ask for overnight shipping for christmas?". since he didn't he has to blame someone, you. hopefully, now that he has vented, he will calm down and go away.

Just a follow-up on this. He left a Positive (negative) feedback stating...less than great communication otherwise just OK. I haven't left feedback yet because I wanted to cool down first. I had thought about a positive stating...buys after 8pm dec 21 whines because not there by 25th..darn post office but don't want to be as rude as he is. What would you do?

I got a negative positive from a bidder yesterday (read seperate post below somewhere) and I still have not left feedback. She complained about my shipping and said if she didn't need the item she woudln't have bought it.
I'm not sure what I would do in your situation because I'm dealing with the same thing on my own. I think feedback is warranted (in both cases), not necessarily a negative but something with that connotation.

I think you could justify leaving a negative because of the heartburn he gave you over the "slow" shipping. We sellers don't need buyers like that.

I would leave him a dull positive, or even a neutral, but since he paid so fast I wouldn't give him a negative.
Auction end 12/21, shipped Priority Mail 12/22 received 12/26.
Just put the right numbers in place of mine.
edited to add the 27th as the 26 was a Sunday.
