The real question is...

"Is this the best we're gonna get?"
Answer: Yes

I'm not thrilled. I'll still save a good chunk on the stuff I usually list, but I have THOUSANDS of low price items that I WON'T be listing.

At least the waiting is over and we can get back to business.

Well,
I now know how greedy the Ebay higher ups have become. No real Xmas present to the loyal sellers that have supported them for many years. This 10 cent thing is a big slap in the face. Yes, better than nothing. But then again, it is getting quite clear what kind of scrooges the ebay crew has become.
I guess I can get a little selective now. They aren't going to get everything like they hoped.

There is still time to list at Overstock for free today...

The sad thing is...I believe alot will be listed as this is the best we are going to get, so we can say good-bye to any free listing as eBay will not need it in the future. Especially if the auction count goes up 7 million.

I think that this is a smart move for Ebay, and for the buyers and sellers. A totally FLD means an extra 1-3 Million+ items, which are mainly junk and leftovers, waiting for a free listing day, and cluttering up the search. At least, if you put some nominal value, 10 cents, it eliminates a lot of junk. Ebay is telling it's seller's.....if it's not worth it to you to pay 10 cents to list an item....then it's an item that we don't want on our site.

Blimey! I just returned today after a 400 mile drive and discovered at 9:00 p.m. that Overstock has a free listing day. Okay, I managed to get 33 auctions up. Then I check the board here - OMG! I have another bunch to do tomorrow for the 10 cent day on eBay. I sure hope people are in the mood to buy!

BAH HUM BUG!!! I have been stock piling listings and working like a crazy woman for a FLD! For ebay to not go for the gusto so to speak once a year for those of us they so eloquently call their back bone regular sellers.... well bah hum bug to them. Now to decide if this is a tease to get the listing totals up and a FLD will follow suit or if this is IT! In any case my house payment and bills are due so I'm going with the dime... I'm grateful but very dissapointed with their greedy little "gift".

I'm amazed at the attitude that people have about FLD - Like it is a right, and ebay owes it to them. FLD is a marketing strategy for ebay, and it is obvious that it isn't part of their marketing plans anymore. You can have FLD every single day, it is called bidville. If you can't pay $10 to list 100 items, you are doing something wrong.

No, eBay doesn't OWE us anything. But consider that most of pay umpteen THOUSANDS of dollars to eBay over the course of a year.

Would it kill them to offer us a bone once in a while?

Or at least for the Powersellers?

I have no problem with the regular listing fees for most of my items. But I do in fact have a large inventory of thousands of slow-moving comic books.

They don't sell fast enough to pay to list, not even in my eBay store. But on FLD week, I do usually sell a couple hundred of them. Were these my smartest investment ever? Not by a long shot. But I have them, and it's nice to be able to move them once in a while

replaymedia,

Then why not take those slow moving items and place them at one of the other sites that have NO LISTING FEES?

If they're just gathering dust waiting for an Ebay FLD, why not let em see the light of day at another site.
Never know, ya might get lucky.

Replay - the UK site does various free listing days (auction, fixed price, 1-99p) a little more regularly that the US site. Since comic books are pretty easy to ship you might want to explore the possibility of listing them on the UK site. There should be one in January.

If you list them as available for shipping worldwide they will also appear on the US site so you still get the exposure to your "regular" market.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
