Watch out! They seem to be coming from everywhere right now! Just got one from Bidpay, paypal, some bank I don't have an account to and ebay.....

I get them ALL the time on my email address associated with my other eBay account. So far I've gotten spoof emails claiming to be from:
eBay (LOTS of them)
PayPal (also quite a few)
WAMU (Washington something Mutual Trust - I dont't have and never did have an account there)
Sun something or other bank (ditto)
as well as some others I just can't think of off hand. If they have spelling mistakes, oddly worded phrases, threats that action must be taken in 48 hours, or are addressed as "Dear PayPal user" or "Dear eBay member" I know they're fake. A legitmate email would address you by name. Plus, look at the properites of the url they give, it's usually some weird website, or their DNS info rather than their domain name spelled out in letters.

I ONLY receive spoof emails at email address I use strictly for Ebay, Paypal, Vendio and the bank account associated with these. Lately, there have been alot more than usual of the "verify your informations" which is a dead give-away that it is a spoof. "Informations"? Give me a break!
The creeps are getting more sophisticated as the email I received last week from US Bank addressed me as Mr. and my last name (I am Mrs, however) US Bank's fraud division did confirm that it was a phish email. How in the heck did they know my last name?!!! I do have an account there that I only use for Paypal and nothing else. If I had not seen the "informations" and misspelled words, how would I know that it was a spoof?
I am wondering how SAFE our personal information is with Ebay, Paypal, Bidpay, Vendio...

minniestuff,
I've received several phishing emails addressing me by my full name. I'ts kind of scary to think of who has your personal information.

I just received my first Ebay spoof email in which the sender addressed it to me by my name. It's scary to think where they may have got that information. I think they are getting email addresses from phony "ask seller a question" emails we respond to. I have also received spoofs from Paypal, WAMU, Sun and Citibank, none of which I have an account with. It's really starting to get bad, and the scammers are getting more sophisticated.

I've recently started getting them from Bidpay... that's a new one for me. I've also had some of the tricky ones that seem to be questions from ebayers about items that I'm not even selling! I've heard from 3 people in the last week who've had their card #s stolen! Not due to spoofs or anything, but it's getting scary out there. Beware!

I got two from BidPay at the two addresses we have used for sending BidPay payments. It was about their privacy statement. I did not click on the link but wondered if they might be real.

Never had one from BidPay, but get at least one a week for P/P. Just had one using my old email address charging me $38.70 for a "Cyber Detective Toolkit". from XYZ Co. They had to collect from P/P. When I emaileled the company. I got a reply back almost instantly that someone had stolen their email address & the name of their product. They told me that they were working find the culprit.

Those are real. But I wouldn't sweat the fine print. Nothing of real importance changed.
