I live in PA and we are looking head on at an ice storm so they say. They've been flashing warnings on TV (and overtop of my TV shows!) since last night. It's supposed to last tomorrow through tomorrow night starting at 3 a.m. (6 hours from now).

That means probably no school tomorrow which in turn means no work tomorrow (that sucks, I just had 2 weeks off, I dont want another day off!) which could mean time to work on eBay stuff

I hope my mailman can make it through though

Anyone else live in the areas about to be hit tonight?

What part of PA do you live in?

And the problem is?

Here in paradise, we live with that type of stuff most of the winter.

Be sure to click on the red link that says "winter storm warning" and heed their advice, especially about travel. The forecast discussion link will give more details, but some of the terms they use may seem like a foreign language. You're right, tomorrow will be a great day to stay inside and list on Ebay.

Stonecold I think I must have done something to offend you because your posts always seem very condescending towards me.

I didn't say there was a problem. No where in my post did I say it was a problem. I'm not happy about possibly missing a day of work but hey I get to stay home with my kid and do eBay stuff.

I've lived in this town my entire life. I know what winters are like. This ain't my first rodeo.

But this will be our first big event this season that could cancel school.

We're expecting the same thing here in Oklahoma...already iced over the north west part of the state. However, I would WELCOME a day off work...hoping to hear that schools are closed because I'm behind in my eBay-ing!

I think he sleeps on the wrong side of the bed because he answers mine that way also. You know those people from Minnesota. Well consider the source.

Helga we had those warnings also. I live in S.E.Wisconsin. They told us rain with severe icing but it wasn't much. But now we are getting our first major snow of the year and they said about a foot of snow. So following your ice you can probably expect snow.

Blueyes...You can use the arrows in the blue box on the right to navigate to your part of the state. Before you do, click on Enid and then on the link for the ice storm warning. They mention this is a life threatening storm for anyone dumb enough to go outside, and to expect widespread power outages.

Every 5 minutes they are flashing watches on the TV! They interviewed the school superintendant who does the school cancelling from my town! He said (duh) ice is more dangerous than a snow storm and that they dont take any chances (duh again) with the children being on the road.

I think if there is even a slick of ice in the a.m. we are off for the day.

And no it's not a problem.

HGP, I live in PA, Glen Mills, about 25 miles from Philadelphia & right next to Delaware...home of tax free shopping...

We're having rain, but haven't heard much about an ice storm in this area. It will mostly be in Lehigh Valley & in the Poconos.
Then it will start to warm up again.

Gosh Darn Golly Gee Whiz!! It is really cold out here down in the low 40's. We have 5 inches of rain in the past 8 days & more coming. The only recorded snowfall in Santa Maria was on Dec. 19th, 1991. I know what cold & snow is, I lived in IA< SD< & Mn for over 40 yrs.

Well, in the So. Calif. mountains, WE have had several feet of snow, more today, and more coming the next three days. Snowbound a couple of days. I think we've gotten the weather that was supposed to go north and east.

Down here in Florida it is going to be 76 today and sunny but tonight it is going down to 60 BRRRrrr. I just checked the 10 day forecast and it looks like we are stuck with this weather for the next 10 days.

We've already had school close three days this year. That's two more than the entire year last year. Stone, I don't think it's so much the ice and such that we're getting, it's that everytime it's happened here this year it's been a major event. We hit snowfall records for December in NE Ohio. Of course, we are subjected to lake effect and the lake can raise h@ll. We're perfectly aware that winter is more severe in other parts of the country. Guess it all depends on what you're used to.

All I can say is thank goodness for the 4-wheel drive! The last snow storm was nothing it couldn't handle. It even got over the three feet of snow sitting at the end of the driveway.

Helga,

You are correct to worry about an Ice Storm. I am originally form SW Pa and understand the concern, especially given the hills and winding roads. I live along Lake Ontario where 150 inches of snow is common but It can and is easily plowed off the roads and life goes on. Only twice in my 33 years of working was work cancelled due to snow problems. But we have had a couple severe ice storms that have cut power for up to two weeks. I now have a generator for these emergencies. In the North East Ice Storms are my greatest weather fear. Chuck

Snow day! It's supposed to get progressively worse throughout the day today. I have to go to the bank so I'm gonna have to go before it gets much worse than this.

I'm a teacher sort of ~ I work in a YMCA. My schedule works off of the school schedules. No school for them no work for me.

I'm scanning all day today. Memories of preparing for the "FLD".

Hey, all you guys and gals complaining about your weather. Can you spell "TSUNAMI". Just think about what those folks are going through. That should put everything in perspective for you. I for one lost all of my material things and my home in two successive hurricanes in Florida just a few months ago. Yet I consider myself lucky compared to Asia. I still have my family and my life. So, insted of worrying about your ice storm, why don't you spend some time and make a contribution to your favorite charities and just maybe it will help someone over there.

I love snow days!! Makes me feel cozy somehow!

Libra - did you mean "gruss aus" postcards? They typically would date from late 1890's - 1910S (the kind with multi views of a few buildings in a village and a flower etc). They can be very desirable in good condition!

um, cyberageart

Clean off your eyeglasses and read my post. I AM NOT COMPLAINING.

I am also not some stupid person who can't tell the difference between a tsunami and an ice storm. I've lived in this city for 33 years and I would rather it snow and be icy than it be 100 degrees out. I AM NOT COMPLAINING.

I feel like I'm on the very unfriendly and attack happy eBay sellers board.

Helen, I'm from Altoona, lived there over 20 years. (don't live there anymore) Went to Altoona Area High School home of the Lady Lions! My mom still lives in Altoona.

It was so neat to read one of your posts where you mention Sheetz's.

Stay warm and dry and I wish all the best to you.

blueyes--What part of OK do you live in? I'm here in Tulsa.

We got some sleet and freezing rain but the roads were pretty good as of 5 pm. It's supposed to get cold cold cold here tonight so all wet streets will be a solid sheet of ice.

If I get to work tomorrow I am so glad I won't have to drive. My fiance will take me. I wish we could've just gotten snow and not this other junk. Western, North Central and Central OK were getting it bad yesterday and today.

We are now under inches of ice. It's really bad!

The warnings are strong until 10 a.m. tomorrow so I dont know if there is going to be school tomorrow or not! My daughter wants a double (2 in a row!) but I don't!

It's oddly quiet outside because there are no cars out at all!
