Well, one of my very few closed auctions of 7 days ago has a NPB so far. No contact. I have sent 2 emails, sent messages through Ebay's contact a member, pulled their info and called last weekend - no answer. The only thing left to do is to file a NPB thing. Get this, this winner's email address is their cell phone company: verizon.com ! Would that block ebay and yahoo emails/ messages? Anyone know? I think all i can do at this point is to file.

Something like this is not cut and dried, is it? I know that some sellers will immediately file for FVFs and move on. For me, it would depend on (1) whether the item has a chance of being sold again, or if the second highest bidder will want it (doesn't happen very often) and (2) how much it sold for. With higher ending prices, I tend to give it a little longer, since I've had bidders with legit reasons they couldn't get back to me.
What I've done on occasion is to contact the second highest bidder and explain the situation, asking if she'd like the item if the high bidder just never shows up. If yes, then I have some assurance that I won't have to wait too long.

Seems to me that you are quite impatient. Only seven days and you have already sent two reminders. Wow, as a buyer, this would turn me off. Too much pressure. Now if it had been 10 days, and you had now sent your first reminder (much more reasonable time frame) with no response in two more days, then file your NPB.
I often get buyers that take 2 weeks to pay. As goofy as it sounds, are also some of my best repeat customers.

I know I am in the minority on this. I don't expect to get paid in 7 days, but I do expect to be contacted.
I send a reminder on the 5th day. If I don't hear from them on the 7th day, I file the UPI dispute. And I never call them. They know they bid on the auction. They know they won the auction. I contacted them and eBay contacted them. If they are in such a bad situation that they can't send a simple e-mail saying that, then they are not going to be able to answer the phone. And a long distance phone call is just one more expense I can't afford.
Now, if they contact me and say they are sending a money order, that's a different story. I will wait for something to come in the mail. I will also wait for a PayPal payment. I know there have been times when I had to wait a few days until someone paid me before I could pay for my purchase. But I always contacted the seller.
Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.

I, too, will wait for payment if I know it's coming but will not wait for them to contact me. After five days they get a reminder. After seven of no contact I file an alert. They know they bid. I don't call them either.

Any seller that called me at home within one week would get some not so pleasant feedback most probably using terms like overbearing and neurotic.

I need to amend my message, higher up. If I haven't heard from a buyer in 3 - 5 days, he gets a SECOND NOTICE, PLEASE RESPOND message. I do ask that they get in touch with me so I know our transaction is still on track. I'm just more patient after I've heard from the person and am willing to wait a little longer for the payment.

I sold an item, 9.99, no contact from the buyer after 10 days so I send a reminder & get a fast reply. "I'm having money problems, can I pay you in two weeks"
Of course she can, but I'm pretty sure she won't. I feel a sincere buyer with money problems would answer my EOA notice without me having to remind them 10 days later.
I feel she is stalling hoping I will go away.
I only send one reminder anywhere from 8 to 10 days after the auction ends. I do send an email before I file & politely tell them that it is eBay's policy I do this so I can recover my FVF. Being nice has, so far, protected my FB from deadbeats. Getting mad can backfire.

In my auction description is asked for a reply to my win email within 48 hours and payment within 10 days of auction close. After 72 hours I sent a follow up email and sent another 3 days later. Still nada.
I just checked his email address again. It IS verizon.net. He has a perfect buyer's feedback too. I don't know what the problem is.
I emailed some other people that he bought from and they said they have had no problems with communication or payment. He did pay them with a personal check though. I don't accept those
edited to add this after thought. I pulled his contact info which triggers mine being sent to him. don't you think he would think something is a miss here! Shall I file or try to call again

I usually have given a reminder after 7 days & again at 10 days. If there is no answer, then its NPB. I have found over the yrs that if there is no reply in this length of tome, there won't be any at all.

Thanks Sanmar, I just filed a NPB or whatever they are called now. UID? Anyway it's done. Thanks everyone for all of your feedback and help . It's been a very hard day.

UPDATE: well, I filed the UID last night. This afternoon I get a message from "contact a member" --- He was ignoring my messages! all he said in this one was: all i need is a mailing address- everthing i get does not have an adress on it-
How he accumulated over 100 positives with no negs, I'll never know. I am still going to wait the 7 days. If no payments received. I am filing for the fees GRRRRRRR
edited to add that I did reply to the message I just received and asked why he never responded to any of my emails or message that I sent him. We'll see what he says, if he responds at all

Did you send him your mailing address?
If not, then I applaud this bidder. I would never even consider sending payment to anyone if they refused to give me their mailing address, even if I were paying with PayPal. It is just too unsafe to do otherwise.

Stone, of COURSE I sent them my mailing address! That's the first thing I do! It's always in my win notification email along with all of the other info they need.

Paloma...I've got a couple very similar. #1 wins. I send EOA. Email bounces back, unknown. 3 more emails bounce. I reported him to Ebay for invalid contact info. Still not NARU, but in the meantime I file IUD. They never made any attempt to contact me. I'm waiting for Friday night when the blue check mark appears, then I'll drop the hammer.
#2 Guy wins. I send EOA. No response. 4 days later I get a message through Ebay wanting to know total with shipping. Send EOA again. Send 2 more asking him to confirm receipt of previous emails. No response. I try to phone him today. DISCONNECTED. Going to file IUD on this turkey Friday night. And yes Stone, I sent my name and address to both, which is really irrelevant at this stage. I'm not worried about the money at this point. I'm just trying to determine whether they have lousy email service, if they are ignoring me, or if my winning bidders are suddenly dropping dead as soon as I send them an EOA.

UPDATE: I am off work today. My little boy is still asleep (He gets up so early during the week that i want him to get some extra rest) What happened? It's 830am and the fed ex driver rings the doorbell a few times, dog barks. I go to the door and find a letter. I open it to find a print out of one of my emails that he had written on (I can barely make out the writing) I think it says that part of the email was cut off and he couldn't view the address) Gee, this printed email looks fine to me! Still doesn't say why he never replied to my emails.
I sent the last one to make sure he read the auction description and to remind him that I don't take personal checks etc. Never got a repy to that one either. Low and behold, in this fed ex envelope is a business/personal check. Now I know why he didnt reply. Kind of like when our kids have selective listening. He only replies to what benefits him. CR#P! This is WAY more trouble than it's worth.
Now it started raining again and we have lightening and thunder! And the beat goes on . . . .

I have sent you many emails & messages through ebay's contact a member with no response except when I filed this dispute & is the only email I recieved. I have NEVER sent you an email with BURBANK, CA as an address as I don't live there. When I pulled your contact info, mine was sent to you as well. I DID call you- NO answer, NO voice mail. You have not called, I have caller ID. PLZ see auction description & my messages to you. You sent business check- I only accept MoneyOrder, cashiers check or Bidpay only
