Tonight I went to log it to my ebay account through my ebay page. I have my username & password saved on my computer so when I click the area to enter ebay userid it fills it in. Well tonight I had something different happen. I had my user id name spelled many different ways and all had passwords saved. All wrong.
What is going on? I have Norton Utility Firewall with all the extras. I checked my notices to see if I had a threat to my computer and there were none. No one else uses my computer, so I'm confused.
Does anyone have any ideas? Did I have someone access my computer?

It sounds like someone on the outside may be trying to log into your account and guessing at different passwords. These are coming back as "saved passwords", which brings up the next question. How are you "saving" your password and user id on your computer so it is automatically filled in when you click in the sign in box? Is it through some third party software program? If so, please tell me it's not Gator or Pasport. The first is a thinly disguised trojan and the other is a typically buggy product from Microsoft that any 6th grader can hack.

Both IE and Firefox ask you if you want to save your password on the computer after you type it in. My advice is DON'T. The information you describe is what is saved on your computer, not at eBay so someone has either hacked into your computer or someone in your home attempted to get into your account.
Generally, someone who is hijacking your account already knows your user ID (it's not hard to get) unless they're a total idiot. So, they wouldn't have to spell it 100 different ways.

If your using Firefox click edit/preferences/privacy and choose to view saved passwords and you can delete the wrong ones or all of them.

Hi, thanks. I'm using IE. As far as saving the id & password. A window pops up the first time I enter a password & Id on anysite and ask me if I want to save it. So this is a no-no? It is not save to save my passwords on my own computer?
When the window pops up to save the id & password it states "windows can saves these items".
Thanks
Lisa

Who has access to your computer?
Does anyone here know if there is an ebay login page where IE would not automatically generate the ID and password? Also, could this have been done through a remote access to thetrinityboutique's computer?
I recommend viewing your history to see what pages have been viewed that you would not go to. Check your ebay account frequently and change your password's on everything, now.

I am befuddled. Think, has there been any opportunity for someone to be at your computer, even for a short while? This is like finding lipstick on your husband's collar, it came from somewhere! (even if it is his.....)

Did you ever click one of those links that state your ebay account may be suspended e-mails? (or something to that effect)
If so, you gave your information to a crook and your account has been taken over by him/her. Did you also give any bank account or credit card info? If so, you better cancel those accounts asap.
I doubt it was something the happened with your computer, but something you did on the internet.
