Ya, JACK, I agree. I sold a widget for $5.95, & charged $5.00 shipping. The cheapest Parcrl post was over $8.00. Oh Hell, I lost money on the deal. From now on the minimum is $10.00

If I can't get at least 9.99 for a widget, I don't list it. Even if I have to sell 2 to gt my 9.99, I don't list it. Just not worth the time and trouble and expense.

People also are shopping at online stores where they know that refunds and returns can in most cases be no questions asked...
Who wants high shipping and only get your auction money back?

I have a projector on auction right now the darn thing weighs 15 lbs. Buyer asked if I'd offer free shipping (good grief I started the thing at 9.99, with exact shipping to them, several options with the calculator)

Postal rates have not increased for 3 years now, so it didn't all of a sudden get expensive. The next increase will be in 2006, I am afraid because they are talking about increasing 1st class postage to 42 cents, which is a 14% increase. What they will probably do is really increase other rates a lot more.
That being said, there will ALWAYS be people who want something for nothing. I put up a lot of 25 CD's for a penny, and it sold for a penny. Fine, it was a remainder lot and it was just taking up space. I put $9.99 shipping. I figured even if the lot went for a penny, I would make something on the shipping. The buyer asked for it to be sent media mail, and that it should cost about $4 to do so. I looked at his feedback, and noticed he was a seller who sold CD's. I wrote back, and said the rate was $9.99 and that was media mail. I then told him that he just got 25 CD's for a penny, and now he wanted me to ship for exact shipping? I told him that I would throw the CD's in the trash before I did that. He then promptly paid, and said it can't hurt to ask. Anyway, people will make unreasonable requests, that will happen no matter what.
