I ask because I must be getting 4 or 5 paypal phishing emails each day, either an email account has been added to your paypal account or some large purchase has been made on your account. I always send them on to [email protected] but I cannot recall a single time that they have followed up with me beyond auto sender level confirmation that it is spoof email. I have never read any stories of anyone being arrested for paypal spoofing or paypal suing anyone in court for phishing so I wonder if they really have put any effort at all into stopping this behavior and protecting their customers. I really have considered just dropping paypal altogether and going back to the dark ages of checks and money orders only.

They are probably doing just as much as CitiCorp or Washington Mutual or eBay or...
WHAT, exactly, would you like PayPal to do?
Other than CONSUMER EDUCATION, what would you expect them to do?
feeBay stated the other week that CS was going to be improved, and Wall Street analyists immediately jumped down their throats for wasting moola on sumptin that doesn't directly benefit the company's shareholders!
The better question is:
Why doesn't our InJustice Department DO sumptin? Instead of worrying that two lesbians might get married, perhaps the Beam adminstration could concentrate on stopping these scammers & FISHERS -- at least when they not be studying ways to circumvent INTERNATIONAL LAW and CIVILIZED BEHAVIOUR??

I just got one that wants me to update my information before FEBRUARY 30 or else my PayPal account will be closed. Should I be suspicious? Should I send them a calendar?
I am surprised that they (FBI, etc.) don't set up "honeypot" accounts (the way the anti-spammers do) to feed information to these guys and trap them when they use it.

""WHAT, exactly, would you like PayPal to do?""
I will tell you what I would like PayPal to do. I would like PayPal to investigate who is scamming the American public and charge them with fraud. How about that for starters!

Only the victim can prosecute them for fraud. Paypal is not the victim. Paypal does not lose money when you give your password and CC info to an imposter or anyone else.

yer saying that you want PayPal to assume the duties & responsibilities of a LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY?
Who would you expect would pay for that?
