Yes!!! I am not a seasoned computer user, either. It is a wonderful service and worth every cent. Hope you try it. You do mean Vendio don't you?

I've been using it since the beginning. It's great. No problems. At first, I had some trouble, but they were very helpful in getting me started!

I didn't even realize Vendio had this service. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Is there anywhere that gives you more information or a tutorial on it somewhere in the Vendio system? Is there a website builder included? I have a non-eBay related supply company and I have not invested in a website yet - this may be the ideal solution for me.

davidsmom & Cheryl, can you enlighten us?

I contacted Vendio some time back when I inquired here about starting your own website but I never heard back from them. I forgot about it getting busy until now. I would be interested also if the cost was right. Does anyone have Vendio's phone number or are we charged for it?

If you look at the tabs on the left side of your screen, one of them is webhosting. I'm considering it, too, but I don't know how to write a webpage. I understand Front Page is very good for designing websites. Does anyone know how user friendly Front Page is?

The great thing about the Vendio web hosting is that it comes with OSCommerce, a shopping cart program. You will need to learn php as opposed to html. It's not difficult. Most shopping cart programs are written in php. OSCommerce is pretty easy. I'm still setting mine up. I got too busy there for a while. If you want to learn more about OSCommerce, here's their web site: www.oscommerce.com.

Vendio also comes with the ability to make chat rooms, discussion boards, guestbooks, newsletters and more! The Control Panel is also fairly easy to use. I also use it to host my eBay photos.

Hi Cheryl,
So have you linked your website on the listing page or on the About me. I see powersellers list their site on the listing page but I read that you had to put your info on the about me page.
I am very interested in starting my own website. As mentioned earlier, I emailed Vendio customer service but noone ever responded then I guess that I got busy with other things and forgot. Thanks Jack for bringing it up again.

Did it take a long time to set up. Also, Cheryl do you get charged for the photo use or is that just part of the total cost?

Yeah I think everyone knows Jack!!!!
I was just joking as I was the original poster!!!
I think I'm going to go for it anyway - it sounds better then paying a couple of hundred to have someone set up a site for you.
I'll let everyone know how hard it is for the computer challenged like me??

You don't get charged extra for photos. You get a set amount of storage space and it's large depending upon what package you take.

I originally used ecommerce.com for the store template. I had to close my store for awhile and am now working on oscommerce. Still trying to figure some of the php stuff out. It really doesn't work well with FrontPage as the editor so having a good program live DreamWeaver will make it faster. At least, as soon as I figure the program out. LOL! As far as putting in your inventory, it's very easy and very fast. You will also need a good FTP program for uploading photos and such on the fly. I use FTP Navigator. It's a snap to use.

It still takes a long time to set a web store up so be prepared to spend a lot of time at your computer. When I had the ecommerce site, it took two weeks to get it fully set-up. Then, there's maintenance and getting traffic to your site. I was able to point my eBay customers to my site through WBN emails. Nothing in the eBay rules making that a no-no. Vendio also has an area in your Control Panel that allows you to submit to search engines. It's all included in the price.

I used GoDaddy at one time, but I'd have to say that Vendio's hosting is far better.

CB, the hidden costs factor,,,there you go,,the FIRST thing they want is for you to give them the $47.00 for the NAME,,,Now have a ball trying to figure out all the OTHER things to make it Actually DO something....Some will eventually get one UP and running others will burn out and they spent $47.00 for NOTHING....

2 cent.

Hi All,

Admittedly, we owe you much more information related to our hosting offerings and future plans. We're working on getting that ready. That said, here's what I can say now.

What's Coming Soon?

In addition to all the Sales Manager enhancements we are currently working on (UPS calculated shipping, automated feedback posting, SMPro v6.1, checkout/shipping/tax improvements, and sales reports among others), we are also finalizing our Personal and Business Hosting Plans, to be publicly available within the next month or so. These plans will have much more storage and transfer than the current Mini plan has--enough to support any of your hosting needs (ecommerce, websites, or personal file storage). We'll also have custom plans available if you need more than we publicly offer.

What's the Future Look Like?

We've often been asked to provide the ability to have a custom site/online store operate with the ease and automation we've done for eBay and other marketplace sales. We're not there yet, and we know the hosting control panel is currently less user friendly than other Vendio services, but we're dedicated to making that request reality and are investing significantly to do so.

We will provide additional details in the coming weeks on the initial larger plan offerings and more detail on our future plans at some point thereafter. If you'd like to help us review and test the usability of some of our future hosting and ecommerce offerings, feel free to submit a note with your Vendio ID and a comment that it's related to Hosting (and even some suggestions of what you'd like to see if you have the time) to:

beta_at_corp.vendio.com (obviously _at_=@ to prevent spam scrapers)

We'll compile the list to be available for future contact when we have more to show.

We're excited to make these future offerings available and look forward to your feedback and suggestions, just as you've been gracious enough to provide feedback on our Sales Management suite of services. Thanks!

bizzy -- Frontpage has a big learning curve, plus it is sooo last week. As a novice, you are much better off signing up for a web hosting service and using their web page creation software.

Hi Vendio:

It's time to take advantage of some eBay sellers frustation about eBay greed.

I STRONGLY Suggest : provide the ability to have a custom site/online store operate -- with the ease and automation -- done for eBay and other marketplace sales !!!

AMEN

Jose

Jack

Registering a domain name is a federal thing, not a Vendio thing. I already had one so it didn't cost me $47. I think it was $25 for the year. This is universal no matter who hosts your website. If you want to use your own name for your website, that is, and not the AOL version of a web site with it's lonnnnng name.
