... while we're talking about having sold to any celebs, let's see what are our favorite ever 'buys' on ebay are? ...

Mine is an early 1950's toaster, which was rebuilt/fashioned into having golden "toast", in neon light, popping out of it ... he referred to it of course, as "pop art" LOL ...

I bought it during "early ebay" and it has stayed plugged in, just being fun to look at for this many years .... I love it~!

How about you?

Purchased (for $5) on feeBay:

"Redneck" ~ an intolerably nasty 1972 Italian drive-in movie, which features Mark Lester (of OLIVER! fame) and an over-the-top Telly "Kojak" Savalas...

Sold it 8 days later for: $110.00

YES!

Indeed, those finds are fun for turning over a profit!!! we did that here on E.O. a few times ... but have you ever bought something on ebay that YOU want, just because you 'want it' gotta have it? ...

I'm enjoying my $300.00 state of the art digital hearing aids I got last month.

I just got a letter from my old audiologist that said it was time for me to upgrade. I didn't even go to him to have him program these because the last time I went and he wanted $5,000 for a pair of hearing aids he got very upset when I said I could get them cheaper.

I kind of wanted to print out the Ebay page and send it to him...........

Mine is an oil painting I bought by an artist living in the South of France named Maldini. It's in a hand-carved wood frame. She looks so real. It's my favorite thing in the house. Paid $60 for her 6 years ago and recently had someone offer me several hundred. I just can't part with her. In fact, she's so loved around here that Ken once asked who would get her if we broke up. I told him I would since I paid for her. He tried to convince me that he paid for half. I actually had to come up with the proof that I had paid for her. Of course, he was just trying to give me a hard time.

glassgrl, was thinking the same thing. What a picture the flat side of that toaster would make. LOL

You absolutely should send a copy of the auction to your audiologist. He needs to know.

My KitchenAid Model 3C mixer with an extra bowl and whip. It arrived in fine shape and looked like it had never been used.

I sold my big stupid heavy gunmetal gray ProLine KitchenAid for twice what I paid for the 3C. The 3C is WAY better all around!

I started started collecting Precious Moments when they first came out. Only two or three a year were put out then. Anyway, I then found out their names are Debbie and Mikey. That's my name and my brothers. The little dog is a blond cocker. As most of you know I have a special place in my heart for blond cockers.

I bought the large porcelain doll of the girl, but they were retired before I saved up enough for the boy. I few years ago I found him on eBay. He arrived in mint condition and in the original box. I had given up on ever getting him and was really happy to find him.

How wonderful is that? I'm very happy for you!

Marcia

She's prominently displayed and I look upon her every day. I'm a big fan of realism. I have some impressionistic paintings, but I prefer the paintings that look like real people. She's a stunner alright! With Ken I get ducks. LOL! His taste and mine differ a lot, but that's what makes it intersting.

You are so right! No matter how much money I need, I will never sell her. I'll sell Ken first. LOL!!!

Hi pelorus! ... thanx, I really love it too .. never gonna sell it .... if I remember right, it was around 8 years ago I bought it ... I sniped in $180, but won it for 80-something. ... I just thought it was so awesome, I had to have it. ... the guy even included the original booklet that came with the toaster (because he happened to have it) "10/15/51 Toast The Betty Crocker Way with the NEW General Mills Automatic Toaster" lol ... he also was making and selling old glass blenders which he would have a blue neon lite "swirl" upward through it! How cool is that?!

You guys won't believe this but cleaning out grandma's we found a toaster in her house on the counter just like that. With the original cord too,. I started using it and its great. The toast goes up and down automatically from the weight of the item.

It was better than my other GE etc brands I've been buying. I think I'm on my third toaster in 15 years. So if this toaster dies I know what to make out of it and sell it on ebay.

thanks

Yes, I had one and used it too. For some reason it stopped working after one of my moves. I finally admitted to myself I would never get around to fixing it and sold it this fall.

I also had a really kool Sunbeam that had a "redEye". It lit up while your toast was cooking. It looked like this...

Wow. I've made hundreds of purchases on eBay over the years, and can't think of a darned thing to post here. Dozens of books, movies, etc., but I cannot think of a single "special" item.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

Mine is a Chrissy doll that I had when I was a child. I just loved that doll. She has hair that grows and can be retracted. I paid $25.00 for her on Ebay. Of course, I have her stored away for my daughter when she gets older. When no one is home, I pull her out of the box and just look at her.

Replay -- Think of that one item that was special to you when you were a child or teenager. Then go find it and bid on it! I really really want a red toot-a-loop radio like I had when I was a child. I just loved mine! Unfortunately, I have to make more money to get one of those! I also want to purchase a white pan-a-pet. It was a round radio and my sister had one. I want to give it as a give for her.

Bizzy????

Something tells me we are not of the same era - or else I'm really losing it.

toot-a-loop

pan-a-pet

never heard of either of them!

But then, I would like to replace my daughter's weebles & treehouse someday. Those were her favorite toys, but then I'm beginning to think I've scared her off having children forever! so I may not need them.

Glassgrl -- I remember weebles! I loved them as a child. The new ones are nowhere near as cool as the old ones! I remember the parking garage set. I used to play with that for HOURS! A toot-a-loop and pan-a pet are both Panasonic items. They came out in the early '70s. And for Classic's entertainment, that was when BTO, Elton John and The Streak were totally cool.

I just checked out some LEGO auctions. I'd have to sell my car to buy the toys I want!

My favorite Ebay purchase is a Disney Fantasia teapot, creamer, sugar bowl and Salt & pepper set that I bought about 5 years ago for $49. The last time that I saw this teapot on Ebay was about a year and a half ago and the teapot alone sold for $250. There are quite a few Fantasia/Sorcerer teapots, but none like mine! I sure feel special!

Cheryl, your painting is beautiful...have you ever noticed how much she looks like a very young Stevie Nicks????
