I got an email apparently from eBay. I'd like your opinion on whether it is authentic.
The email correctly notifies me that my eBay payment is due soon and also correctly states the amount I need to pay. The email also contains many links back to eBay to help me pay.
When I hover my mouse over the link to "www.ebay.com" however, I see this in the status bar area:
http://click2.ebay.com/1582068.285703.0.137
That doesn't look like a real eBay address to me. My real question is, if the email isn't from eBay, how did the sender find out my account balance and payment due date?

It is a real ebay email, but I still would not click on the links.
click2.ebay.com is a tracking link that will take you to your account.
But NEVER, EVER click on an email link to enter your password. Always go directly to the website to log in.
If you are in the habit of clicking on email links, sooner or later you will click on a link that is not valid and find yourself in deep doo-doo. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
