Last week I had a "question to the seller" regarding shipping and payment.

I went to th Ebay site to reply. A minutes later I get an email telling me the address is invalid.

I go back and read his email. He asked that I write him at a different address. I did, I it comes back as no such address.

Nothing I could do so I forgot about it.

Yesterday I get an email from the same guy (different email address than before)
Asking me why I didn't answer his email AND it was unfair of me to turn him him as a NPB since my payment methods are so confusing.....

I never sold anything to him.

Of course his email bounces again.

The bidder has a good feedback record so I was wondering if someone is using his screen name. Do you think this is possible?

I contacted Ebay and they are looking into it.

You have done all you can. At this point let Ebay figure it out. It is up to the "Bidder" to make sure their e mail is valid and not you.
Sounds like another seller has the same problem trying to contact them. I would just forget about this as there is nothing you can do about it.

Did you have to "sign in" to ebay to answer the guy? If so you had better change your passwords ASAP. I have gotten several Ask Seller A Question that were bogus and must have been password phishing. (I didn't respond to them).

I had to sign in. I thought that was normal procedure. No word from eBay yet.

Change your password immediately. Your account is about to get hijacked if it isn't already. And block that person from bidding.

I went ahead and changed my password. How does someone get your account info when you reply from Ebay?

Popnrock

That was not an e-mail from ebay. It was a scammer trying to get your ebay id and password. See this thread about it.

This is why you should NEVER answer the ask a seller questions through ebay. ALWAYS DO IT VIA YOUR OWN E-MAIL WITH THE REPLY BUTTON.

STONE! You got that one bass-ackwards!

DO NOT CLICK ON any links in emails. PERIOD!

The ONLY safe way to reply to an Ask the seller a question is to log into Ebay directly through your browser. And look for the question link on your seller's page.

The only SAFE place to log onto Ebay is in a window you have directly opened yourself.

NEVER, I say NEVER click on an Email link! DO NOT reply directly to an auction email from your mail folder, do not even entertain the notion.

Got that????

I did answer the question from Ebay and the questions that were asked show up on the listing. I just find it strange that it keeps getting bounced back.

Poprock, do everyone a favor and report them to Ebay for invalid contact info.

It could be an innocent mistake because the buyer forgot to update the site with a new addy, or it could be a spam. In that case he needs to be NRU'd.

If it was an innocent mistake, he needs to update his info anyway and Ebay will bring it to his attention real fast!

Hey, why haven't we thought of this earlier???

Go to Ebay, Advanced Search, Find a Member, type in the email addy. It should pull up the Ebay ID associated with that address.

If no ID match, You've got SPAM!

Itray,

Apparently you don't read either.

First, popnrocks e-mail was a scam to get her ebay info. She is in deep shXX if she hasn't changed her password already.

Second, Ebay eliminated the ability to imput a person's e-mail address to find their ebay id about a year and a half ago.

I have to agree with you on one thing. You do sound just like Jack, and clearly don't read like him too.

I disagree Stone.

You CAN go to Ebay and via the Advanced Search/Find a member - input the email address and find the user name.

Now YOU go to bed!

Make sure you scan your computer for a trojan/keystroke logger.

UPDATE

I turned the bidder in for invalid email address.

I received a reply from Ebay stating that the Bidder is good standing. Doesn't explain his email bouncing.

He wrote to me again asking me to sell to him.
He said that he has two unpaid strikes against him but..... (there were unfair).

I went directly to the auction and left him a public reply.

I hate to lose a sale but I do not feel comfortable selling to someone who strikes and invaild email addresses.

I wanted to also thank you for the good advice.

I did change my password, did the scan for viruses and other invaders.
