I am an XP user - when I remove temp internet files and cookies through internet options on the control panel, am I removing Firefox temp int files and cookies as well as IE? I ask because it looks like my cookies HAVEN'T been removed (ie PayPal remembers my email address) after I do this.

Just making sure the "SMILIE" thread doesn't die (we all could use SMILIES every now and again!

Hi Neglus. I dont think so. It seems windows and firefox do not hold the cookies in that same file. I usually clear it out thru the firefox options thing.

I still use IE, but firefox sure loads faster for me. Which I find weird as it seems to use more memory than IE. I think its the way it caches things or something though. Yesterday I was listening to Kim Komando for a bit in the car, and just when she was about to go into something about what you need to update IE from yet another security flaw, I reached my destination. lol. So now I am trying to find out what 'it' was we need to do.

bbl later with it if I find out, and anybody else is interested in it.

I absolutely do not use IE anymore. Firefox is so much faster and safer. I'm tired of having to download security fixes for IE. Everytime I used IE, I had to run Spybot and it caught some kind of spyware. Since I've stopped using it, Spybot has found nothing on my machine.

I started using IE and thats when all my problems started.

Virus, Spy, hackers, everything went wrong. I used IE because it was a faster surfing site, AND it worked better with my listing program. But I am now using Mozilla Firefox which is much better. I sign on with Cable but I still have a problem.

My xp home edition is shot, I have destroyed my computer by using IE so now I have a hard time even getting hooked to the internet.

I can not do my Ebay work, my aol will not repond even Mozilla is having a hard time opening.

My solution:
I am going to put XP Pro on my computer and clean the C drive of everything so I can get all the virus and trogan horse off, because this trogan horse just keeps taking over the computer and changing everything. I have defraged and it shows the C drive is 80% infected. I am not going to burn any program to disk because I am worried that when I download the disk it might be infected. I will be loosing a week of Ebay work plus what it will cost to change my system, and all because of working in IE.

My advice is: NEVER USE IE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THAT SITE, it is unsafe and lets everything come into your computer no matter how many upgrade patches you download.

THE TROJAN HORSE:
The Trojan Horse neither replicates nor copies itself, but causes damage or compromises the security of the computer. A Trojan Horse must be sent by someone or carried by another program and may arrive in the form of a joke program, or software of some sort. The malicious functionality of a Trojan Horse may be anything undesirable for a computer user, including data destruction or compromising a system by providing a means for another computer to gain access, thus bypassing normal access controls.
