It didn't "feel" right to keep side-tracking Dejapoohs thread, So I'm starting a new one.

Lady has me curious about her table, so I've been surfing...

Found a great site for the 1964 World's Fair

http://www.nywf64.com/hougt01.shtml

Also a good link for collectibles

D - is that YOU? Are you doing a ToMwIlLlI on us now?

I was at the World's Fair.

I'm curious about the table too and I've surfed and not found anything either.

I was too young to remember anything about the World's Fair except my hat (shades of Peter Pan) with the 3 foot feather blew out of the car on the way home and my Mother wouldn't stop and let me get it!

Thanks LtRay for starting this thread as I was feeling funny about that too. (but her Gibson is doing fine so she probably doesn't care?? lol)
Anyhow I did find the site on the table and here it is

They did make this table for the 1964 Fair (says 63 but don't think their was one that year) and made it for a few more years - well you can read it on this page.
I'm getting some information on the last owner of the table today.
I have written AH Stock Mfg Corp and will let you know if I get a reply.
If nothing else, I really enjoyed learning about this fair too. It looks like it was something else and would still be ahead of it's time even today on many levels.
My Aunt always love going to the World's Fairs. I think she made it to all of them until the 1970's.
Why did they stop having them?

Update
They are mailing me a brochure with this piece in it.
I found out the owner had a decorating firm in PA and a home in Key West as well as the one here in Jacksonville, Fl.
I got a call from a independent firm maker that heard about the table and wants to use it in his movie. We are negotiating but I'm not real sure about this?

Cool! Rent it OUT! Make them pay shipping both ways and draw up an agreement that you GET IT BACK in pristine condition. Then SELL that sucker with it being advertised as in "such and such movie".

Do it!

I was at the Knoxville World's Fair in 1982. It was fun. My husband was out to sea with the Navy and left my 2 boys with my Mother-in-law and went with my mother.

Yes, GG, its really me.

Lady, Do rent the table. When I lived in Dallas, there was a local prop guy who prefered to rent instead of buy his movie setups. They pay darn-near retail to rent and then you can actually say your item was in the movie.

Maybe you can even get him to have the stars sign your piece?
