Is the the future of email? Will it someday become useless? Just when things are picking up in our cyber antique mall store the email to a buyer comes back with a message that "To control spam, I now allow incoming messages only from senders I have approved beforehand." It goes on to say we must click on a link and fill out a form in order to get approved. Since they made the purchase on the antique mall page they don't know our email address until we send the acceptance email so they can't pre-approve us. Should we add somthing to our terms with our email address and a request to "unblock" us?

It seems to me that the buyer should know that they have such a draconian filter set and let sellers know what is coming. Sales have been so slow that we would not like to miss a $90 sale but it is annoying.

How do you have your antique mall cyber store hosted on the internet? Has it been successful? Just wondering as I have a large inventory of antique and collectible glass, porcelain, and pottery to sell (have been selling it on Ebay). Thanks for your time.

We have the shop on GoAntiques and the sales come and go. We have really good months and then sales seem to dry up only to come back strong. It would be nice if it was steady. Our items are searchable on Froogle and Google. You also get access to PriceMiner which lets you search internet sales and closed eBay auctions. There is a monthly charge but no listing fee so you can leave a lot of inventory on it. The final value fee however is higher than eBay. You can also move stuff on and off eBay with no additional charge except the eBay fees.

The thing I don't like is that the inventory is arranged by date listed so the shopper does not see the items grouped by type. I have designed a personal site on my domain that is grouped by category and has links to it from a number of sites I maintain that have very high Google rankings in specific areas.

Another problem is the "non-buying" buyers. I have never had a buyer on eBay who did not follow up with the sale but it is so easy with the mall sales for the buyer to simply disappear with no feedback or loss of access to hold over them.

Simply put, yes. That dammed earthlink is just as bad as AOL. I put in my terms that all AOL and Earthlink users must add me to there acceptable e-mail lists.

When we tried to fill out the form to unblock from our domain account it would not work. My sister who has Earthlink for her personal email was able to get the unblock to work from her email. It does seem that all of our email problems with buyers are either AOL or Earthlink.

If I understand Earthlinks info page they don't nuke the email from people who are not in your mailbox but put it in a "suspicious" folder.

Just seems email is going to get less dependable the more blocks have to be put on it.

Funny you should mention this topic.
Until this week, I have NEVER run into that Earthlink blocker issue. But just this week I have had 3 separate buyers who had that.
What a pain.
