Hi, all. I have a ring which has evidently been made smaller by a jeweler; there's a metal band inside the ring band, that's been installed halfway around, inside the ring band. (This is hard to describe!) Just trying to find out the official name for such a device.

Hmmm. I thought ring guards were separate rings worn WITH another ring? I could be wrong (it's been known to happen, LOL). These metal bands are inside the ring band itself. Anyone?

Roadsmith...Jewelers on the East coast call it a Gizmo. Jewelers on the West coast call it a whatchacallit. In Arkansas and Mississippi it is called a ring guard. To be on the safe side, I would list it in both the whachacallit and gizmo categories and keyword spam by sneaking "ring guard" into the description. It will result in double listing fees, but you should get a lot more hits.

LOL, Sparkz! You are THE funniest ?guy? ?gal? on Vendio. I can always count on you for a laugh out loud.
Alas, I'm told that Ebay has discontinued both subcategories of Gizmo and Whatchacallit. Just when things are going good, they monkey with the site.

The correct, spelling, is A Whatchamacallit. Then again this could be ah Geographical thingy. And a Gizmo, is a toy that spins and spurts, goes whirrrrr,,,and errrrrrrrrrr when it stands still.
