The biggest advantage I can see, is that you can allow BF to collect ALL da moola -- IOW, the bidder could use their PayPal to pay BF...

But that still doesn't cover you against problems and it'll cost additional to ship with signature confirmation too:
How am I protected from Fraud?
If you choose to have Borderfree collect payment, and you ship the item to the address supplied by Borderfree using a service that provides delivery confirmation and signature, you will not be exposed to any Buyer payment fraud. Borderfree will assume any risk due to fraudulent use of the payment methods Borderfree accepts (currently Visa only). However, in cases where the Buyer is able to prove that the item was not delivered as promised or that you misrepresented the item, Borderfree may initiate a payment reversal through PayPal if you are unable to reach an agreement with the Buyer directly.

After a quick read, it appears that the cost to buyer for shipping is increased, as the seller would have to ship to BF and then BF would ship to buyer.
"When the buyer clicks on the buyer quoting tool, they will be prompted to enter any additional location information required (postal code, for example), the bid price they would like to use, along with your U.S. shipping cost to the Borderfree U.S. Facility (Taylor, Michigan 48180"
