I don't buy much on ebay but my husband has just discovered shopping on line.
We just won an auction and the guy doesn't have the best FB (can't get hubby to understand this is not good)
I don't even have a credit card on my paypal account right now but can add one and pay.
How do I make sure it goes against my credit card for extra protection?
Thanks

First, register your cc.
Then, empty your paypal account.
Then, pay for item. Paypal will try to force you to pay with bank account. But there is a button for "other payment options". Hit that and say you want to pay with your cc. You then have to confirm it.

LadyJ,
You would have to read the terms on your credit card to be sure if you would be be protected in an online transaction thru PayPal.
Also, why don't you just set up a PayPal account for him. It is quick and easy enough. Added benefit, it would give him an easy way to keep track of his online buying habits.
As for - FB, my DH does the same thing. Drives me nuts!

Also remember that any changes you make to your PayPal account automatically switches you from a confirmed address to an unconfirmed address. You will need to go through the confirmation process again including the charges that PayPal institutes for doing that.

If he is bidding under his own Ebay ID,let him set up his own paypal account and pay the seller with his credit card.

Thanks - that's what I needed.
I don't think I'll be opening up anything in his name - I think it's better that I do the bid placing??? If you know what I mean.

if you sell on ebay and accept payment via paypal and he is using your paypal account to pay for his bidding, wont that mess up your sales record??
you will have to empty your paypal account so that he could use the credit card,as paypal would always want you to exhaust your paypal fund first before any credit card charge/
and if your bidder complains about your item, paypal may restrict your account,it could be a mess if he is in there using your account??

I am hoping we won't be making this a habit.
I use my second ID but it's the same paypal account.
Are you saying that if I have to do a charge back with paypal - it puts a hold on my paypal account?? Other than that - I don't leave much in my account anyway.

No,if your buyer files a complaint with paypal or thru his credit card issuer, paypal will put a hold on your fund in your paypal account.
sometimes they can restrict your account by accepting payment but not letting you withdraw any fund and the worst is no money in and no money out.

stone - "confirmation charges?" what confirmation charges?
Those are the charges that PayPal charges your credit card to confirm it. And any time you update any information about your credit card, PayPal makes your account unconfirmed and they charge you again.
