Logged on this morning to a very slick and official looking PayPal email saying:
"Congratulations! You have received this Notice because the records of PayPal, Inc. indicate you are a current or former PayPal account holder who has been deemed eligible to receive a payment from the
class action settlement in accordance with PayPal Litigation, Case No. 02 1227 JF PVT, pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose.
In your specific case you have been found to be eligible for a payment of $86.99 USD."
and "To credit your bank account please click here."
Right. I will do it in a minute. Headers show it comes from palomides.net which seems to be a domain for gamers.

They're coming out of the woodwork. The US government can't get rid of the people that try to take our money and identity everyday through PayPal and eBay scams, but the Patriot Act will get rid of the terrorists? ROTFLMAO.
I don't get the PayPal scams so much anymore. I get the Nigerian scams daily, all day!! Hey, let's stop worrying about who is reading what in the library and start taking care of these thieves that take money from Americans every single day.
Just about the best piece of advice I was ever given? If it sounds too good . . . and, you don't get something for nothing.

Is anyone else getting a push back from buyers about PayPal? Goodness knows buyers are scarce enough these days anyway. Had one write me the other day "With all the spam and scams from PayPal I am afraid to use it." He really seemed to think it all came from PayPal. Duh!

I've had that questioned asked. I get it a lot more lately. I try to explain that they are at just as much risk using their CC at Sears. Everything goes into a computer and where there are computers, there are hackers. I pay all my bills online and those that say it's not as secure need to understand that when you send a check to the utility company, it all goes into the computers - your routing numbers, your account numbers. . .it all ends up in the same place.

Funny you should mention that Cheryl, I've had a few buyers reluctant to use PayPal recently. It's more effort to handle a money order, but I'm not minding the missing fees

Interesting thread. Yesterday we received a check for about $24 from the State of Utah, stemming from a class action suit. Evidently, within the last 10 years carpeting was purchased and installed in Utah (including our upper floor carpeting) for which taxes were paid on the installation (service) as well as the carpeting itself. That's illegal in Utah, and a suit was brought.
We'd heard about this a couple of years ago but said, sure, they'll find us in Southern Calif., uh-huh. They did, though, and I think this is the first time we've been recipients of such a successful suit.
$24 isn't a whole lot, but, as a former boss of mine at public radio used to say, it's better than a finger in the eye.
