Until recently, eBay automatically combined items when I clicked on Send Invoice. I can no longer combine items on an eBay invoice. I checked my preferences and they're okay. I use Vendio to list. Is there something there I need to check? Now I have to manually send an invoice through PayPal and I hate that.

It is working fine for me as of yesterday. In order to combine, all items must have the same shipping method such as 1st class or priority mail. If one of the items has a shipping method that is different from the rest, you have to manually combine.

I had it stop working for me as well for a time; it started working again out of the blue. I believe it is a setting in Paypal that may be your issue - you may want to check and make sure your Paypal account is still 'associated' with your Ebay account and that your other Paypal preferences are OK.
