Call me naive but I have never heard of this type of problem on Ebay ever???
A friend of mine purchased an automotive item on Ebay. The seller had a low opening price with a very high buy it now. My friend went in with a low reserve and won the item. The seller choose to ignore him for at least 2 weeks until my friend pulled his contact info and called him twice. He finally sent him an invoice with a highly over inflated shipping fee that my friend deduces that would make up for the low selling price. My friend calls him on the shipping fee citing Ebay policy. He never hears back from this person period. My friend just called me to tell me that this seller relisted the same product.
So tell me what type of recourse does my friend have in reporting him to Ebay. He is pissed big time. The shipping fee was $125.00 where other sellers of the same item were charging $35.00 - $45.00.
He still wants the item. I told him that I would post his problem that I have always read great advice here on this board. I hope that someone can give me any info for him.
thank you,
rosanne

if his bid price plus 125 shipping come out in line with what the other sellers charge (bid and ship),why not just go along with it,he should have checked shipping before he bids.
no one wants to lose money.

The fact that your friend left themselves open to inflated shipping by not inquiring first is going to be the main issue.
At this point, the seller can simply file against your friend for non-payment which is going to make the "refusal to sell" claim difficult to substantiate. An invoice has been sent which negates that claim.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

thank you all for your input. He did ask before bidding but of course the seller never responded. He is Ebay sauvy to certain degree as he also sell & buys. I will pass this info onto him.
Thank you again,

Rosanne, there IS protection from the scumbags who make up for low winning bids with distorted shipping fees. Your friend can still complain to ebay and explain the situation. If the shipping proves to be out of line ebay will(and has) taken care of the situation.
If these "sellers" don't like the low price they should put a RESERVE ON IT!
