I'm getting ready to list some figurines from what was sold to me as a Meissen, Dresden and German figurine collection. I've been all over the web and through two marks books, but can't identify either of these. What's strange about one of them is JP looks like Jacob Petit's mark (Paris Porcelain) with Meissen looking swords. The other looks like an intertwined VS within the shield.

The mark looks like Sitzendorf, but I will look some more...

I didn't think of Sitzendorf! I'll do some surfing for their marks. Thanks!

Your photo is a bit blurry, and obviously there is no shield, but the family resemblance seems strong...

You're a doll - thanks for posting that, I sure didn't run in to it anywhere.

Caroline,

You're very welcome, and it pleases me greatly to be of some help around here. I frequently ask for help, and since the areas I know something about (audio, video, etc.) are not often asked about here, I usually feel like a free-loader. I'm far from being a porcelain person, but I'm learning.

It's just hanging out there to confuse us! Perhaps an artist or decorator's mark? I haven't been able to find much on this at all; I may head over to Washington College later - they have a great library with all sorts of good reference stuff for antiques.

It's hanging around with the porcelain people!!!

Can any porcelain people help with this ID?

I doubt it. They are probably too stiff and fragile to give you an answer.
