Have I exceeded my quota of questions for one day?
I have a merchant account and can accept all major credit cards. I'd like to offer that form of payment for my eBay listings, but I'm not sure how customer credit card information will get to me. Can anyone explain the process? Do the customers have to call it in to me by phone or is there a secure form provided by eBay after checkout or ?????

I would imagine you will have to provide your own link for the separate merchant account...Since it is NOT Paypal, eBay will likely help you in no way at all. So, do not expect them to provide a secure form or anything of the sort. You will have to request that your winning bidders pay for the respective item through your own link, so be prepared to revise all your ads if wanting to do this. Good Luck!!

Bummer. I don't have a location online to which a customer could click a link to make a direct credit card payment. I specify the information myself through our virtual terminal. Calling the information to me by phone would be fine, except that we're not always available when our customers want us to be (like at 1AM on a Sunday morning).

HI I accept cards with my merchant account. I have for several years. What I have folks do is send me 3 4 or 5 emails with their number in parts in each.don't forget the expiration date as well.. OR they can call me. I have used both of those methods successfully... and have had other dealers ask me to do that when paying them for an ebay sale. I send the customer the paper copy of the charge sales slip in the package.

Or, instead of spliting the details and sending in the clear, you could simply use a PGP encrypted sendmail form on your website.
Nobody except you can decrypt it.
Much cheaper and more cost effective than using an https secure server

Um, folks, I hate to be disagreeable but eMail is not secure at all, even if the information is broken up over several emails.
We must remain PCI/CISP compliant, which means the information must come to us over a secure connection (among other things). Otherwise, we could risk having our online merchant accounts cancelled, and I really don't want that to happen.
If there is no way to transmit the information in a secure and encrypted fashion that is PCI/CISP compliant, then I won't be able to use that option.

in all the years that i have been using my system , i have never had a problem. that goes for probably 6 to 8,000 transactions from all over the world. so long as they are sent the way i have indicated. 1 to 2 minutes apart. what are the chances that the wrong person will get all 3 emails.? i do not work from my web site with cards.

If you haven't had a problem in 8000 transactions or so, that's great, and more power to you. However, I run my business in the most anti-fraudulent manner possible for both myself and my customers and I will not suggest that they provide credit card information in an non-secure and unencrypted fashion. It's just not safe.

I have my customers call me on our 800 phone number. I send the purchase info in an e-mail with the number and the times that I will be in the office. This has been extremely effective for payment and an added benefit. Most customers will ask, since I am buying this item, do you also have one of these for sale. The extra sales that are generated by personal contact is very good. For those who don't call, I also have them send two e-mails spliting up the card details.
For those of you still asking for what kind of credit card they have, it is time to stop. The first number in the card tells you what kind of card it is.
3 = American Express
4 = Visa
5 = Master Card
6 = Discover
It is very secure if your customers do not tell you what kind of card. That is one of the keywords scammers are looking for.

Mc - there is another listing service similar to Vendio that allows direct credit card acceptance in their checkout. I'm not sure if Vendio also has this programmed in but from the sound of the previous comments it does not sound like it. You might want to look into Marketworks. You need to use a portal service like AuthorizeNet then you just plug in your user information and Presto! Chango! Your ebay customers are able to use their credit cards to pay you thru a completely secured site.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...
