I've looked in a few books for this mark, Kovel's, etc. and haven't found it - I assume it's German since it came from a Meissen and Dresden collection. But how creepy is this!

That is the trophy that was presented to the champion in the childrens hog riding contest in Bristol, Tennessee in 1976. I bet the recipient would love to get it back.

Not only a baby riding a wart hog - but a naked baby riding a wart hog!

I told you it was creepy!

Caroline,

The two "crutches" are the mark of Richard Eckert etc.

I have no idea if they later added a mustache or if it is entirely unrelated.

They probably added the mustache in honor of Adolph.

Thanks, great site, how did I miss it?

I think Adolf was still painting outhouses at the time the china was made

Great site! Just bookmarked it.

Thanks for the pic of the mark, it looks close enough, and would make sense since many of the other pieces are Volkstedt.

What mark book are you using? I can never find any in the old, old Kovel's book I'm using.

I'm using Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks, copyright 1986. It doesn't have all the variants that are on porcelainsite.com.
