I used the words "faux" and "simulated" in an auction and they pulled the auction for a violation. How else are you supposed to describe a costume jewelry pearl necklace? This is the second time they've done this to me on that auction. Actually, it's a store item not an auction item. I'm madder than a hornet right now.

What a STUPID policy! Maybe it was in the wrong category? Just found the actual policy...

The names of other stones or gems, such as "opal", "ruby", "pearl", etc. must be qualified if the mineral composition of the item differs from the natural mineral.

Additionally, when listing such items, sellers may use the stone name or "pearl" in the item title or description only if the stone name or "pearl" is immediately preceded or followed by the words "simulated" or "imitation", spelled out in full. Sellers must also include in the item description in equal visibility to any other wording the composition of the item, for example, "plastic," "glass," "quartz," etc.

These items may only be listed in categories especially designated for them (like Pearl, Imitation) or in Other categories, not in the Opal, Ruby, Pearl, etc. categories.

Caroline

It was in the proper category. I may get their wrath because I wrote back a scathing reply. The word FAUX and SIMULATED was used in the title. SIMULATED was used in the description. It's some competitor that has nothing better to do with their time. I have better things to do. I'm selling.

A lot of listing violations are done via search feature engine software, and words like "simulated" and "faux", "bootleg" "fake" etc. trigger the engine and one of the executive interns in charge most likely is the culprit.

The only way to get it relisted (any pulled violation also deletes the ad template/copy from the data base, so even if you get the ok to relist, your data is lost and you can't relist with the old data stored in your Vendio base)...is to appeal via eBay's system....and prove it's not a violation...

Or...just reword the auction, and take out potentially "infringing" words....good luck...

I use faux all the time Cheryl it has to be the word simulated. I guess the only way to say the this is not real stone or pearl lol is something like "this stone is made to look like a real ruby but it's not" cause some nut bag will start screaming I thought it was real other wise ...what a pita ,sorry it's happening to you with all the stress from Ryan and the sadness of the hurricane victims. Just what you needed huh.
