New Orleans and Mississippi Gulf Coast?
I sent a large shipment ($176 worth of postcards) to a lady in Ocean Springs MS via priority mail on Friday Aug 26th and also a couple to buyers in New Orleans area. Did the USPS hold the mail somewhere else or was it routed there? I have heard from the New Orleans people with forwarding addesses or instructions to hold shipment, but nothing from the Ocean Springs lady (probably no access to email?). I know ebay purchases are the least of their worries but I was wondering if USPS has the foresight not to send mail to threatened areas.

In addition, the Postal Service has assigned ZIP Code 77230 to the Houston Astrodome for general mail delivery to those victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Postal Service is working to set up special ZIP codes for other sites being used to house evacuees. Postal employees at those locations are assisting people with the Change of Address process.

Thank God! I heard from my buyer from Ocean Springs MS. No mention of the postcards but that is the least of her worries :
"Your kindness means so much--thank you for your concern. It is a mess here. My dad had over 12 ft of water in his home. We are trying to survive--but so hot. My father's home was one of three homes in his neighborhood to survive--all the rest are turned every which way and also badly damaged.
Pray for us and thanks again foryour concern. "
