Hello,

About 3-4 months ago we sent a few orders out to one customer via Fed Ex. We shipped aprrox. 4-5 boxes per week to a home address, and each box weighed about 5 lbs each. They were mainly t-shirts, and other clothing items. Each order ( box ) had an est value of about $100 each.

The total for all orders was valued at about $1,400. Now for the part where we are complete idiots!! LOL...We sent all the orders via regular Fed Ex Ground. We did not purchase any kind of proof of delivery or anything as such. Basically, there are ZERO signatures for any of the orders in the Fed Ex tracking data base. The driver rang the door bell, no answer on each occasion, and then he proceeded to leave the boxes on the doorstep of the house.

Now, the buyer is of course saying that they never received ANY of the boxes. Fed Ex does show that the adresses match up, but without proof of signature we are basically screwed. According to a rep with them, who's to say that all the boxes were not stolen by someone in the neighborhood, etc.

I do realize we were VERY, VERY naive by not paying for the proof of delivery, so that we could at least have that as some kind of proof.

All the orders were paid via PayPal to a confirmed address. The buyer had a close to perfect feedback score, but is issued a complaint with PayPal. Now PayPal wants tracking numbers. We have numbers, but again, no signature for any of the orders to this buyer.

My question is do we even have a chance here, or are we pretty much going to lose all the money we were paid because we didn't get the proof of signature?

Any help will be appreciated!

Thank You!!

Not to be snippy here, but have you read the PayPal Seller Protection policy? That should give you the definitive answer without relying on other sellers to make (more or less) educated guesses.

(And for those of you who don't feel like looking it up, PP claims must be made within 45 days -- not "3 to 4 months" and for shipments under $250 require "reasonable" proof of delivery including tracking numbers. Over $250, a signature is required as proof.) Buyers are also limited to 3 claims, not 14 individual ones.

Unless I read it all wrong, of course.

I don't think you were naive at all - how were you to know that either they would try to scam you or the boxes would be stolen.

Provide the tracking numbers to Paypal - they show as being delivered - hopefully they will deny the claims based on the fact they are way too late in the first place and if not based on the fact the items were delivered.

Something stinks on the buyer's end - not yours. I would stand my ground and fight it you did what you were supposed to do.

hi fk,

"About 3-4 months ago we sent a few orders out to one customer..."

buyers only have 30 days to file a PP complaint that will fly. my read on it is that PP will ultimately deny their claim based on what you say above. if they paid you more than 30 days ago, they've missed the deadline with PP. i'd give PP the info they want, but i think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how this turns out.

can't help with FedEx but I've been around the block a time or two with PayPal!
First of all, respond to PayPal asap (if not, it can automatically end in their favor)
Most likely the claim will be automatically spit out due to the length of time that has elapsed.
BUT
if anyone even looks at this, you need to give them your confirmation numbers (it will show both shipping and receipt, proof such as signature not required by PayPal).
Don't fret over this one ~ you'll be happy with the results!
best of luck.......
