I paid for an Ebay lot. I was charged State Sales tax (Florida) on the winning bid AND shipping and handling. Is not that wrong? Should the sales tax be just on the winning bid?

That is correct. Labor is non taxable, and it is illegal to tax interstate commerce. However, if you and the seller both live in Florida, the situation may be a little different. If that's the case, a call to your state sales tax board can answer the question.

You definitely should check, but any state I've lived in that had sales tax would not include it in shipping/handling (Florida was not one of those states) - Thankfully I am in a tax free state!

Ohio sellers are required to charge Ohio residents sales tax on shipping and handling. I'm sure other states require that sales tax be paid on shipping and handling, too. Vendio and eBay both give the seller the option to charge sales tax on shipping and handling.

Shipping and Handling are also taxable in PA. It depends on the state. But only if the sales tax is due (sales in PA).
