I print round 500 labels a month ... sometimes more, sometimes less but that is average.
Is the intial cost of a thermal printer and buying labels worth the cost?
Uhhhh I did buy a used one a couple years ago on feebay and it was worthless - think I paid around $60 for it. this kinda turned me off, I bought it from a "reputable" seller. They said it was in excellant condition and I just junked it and moved on.
I have priced them on Hippo and other venues and know they are not as high there as they are in stores.
Thinking about Zebra LP 2844
any opinions yea or nay ??? Thanks in advance

I have been using a Zebra LP2844 for more than a year and it has worked flawlessly. Saves a ton of money on ink and it has never misprinted or jammed like a regular printer. I use it with Endicia.
I would never buy anything from Hippo as I did purchase a thermal printer from them and it arrived broken. They did not take care of it and I negged them and got one in return.
I also have a Zebral LP 2543 as a backup which works just as well and is far cheaper. The advantage of the 2844 is that it has a USB port so it can be used easily in conjunction with your regular printer.

Marc-- actually the useless one I purchased was from Hippo but I figured or maybe they convinced moi it was just me not knowing how to configure it .... very interesting
Where is a better venue -- please email if you would rather not post it .
I was thinking you may have departed "the group"
But did not dare inquire your whereabouts.

There was no particular reason for departing the group...Just not a lot of activity. Hippo is the last place on earth I would buy anything!

I also use the Zebra LP2844 with Endicia, I purchased it 3 months ago. It was one of the best moves I've made recently as far as streamlining my workload. Saves a BUNCH of time, and after you calculate how much tape and ink is, plus the time spent cutting the labels, it is a huge time saver. I probably print twice as many labels as you do, but even if I was only doing 250 a month I would still recommend this printer. As Marcn said, not a single jam! It works perfectly everytime.

I appreciate the support -- I had already (almost **for sure *no doubt about it* maybe)
decided on the Zebra LP2844.. just needed a couple "that's a good ideal you have." (grin)
Now where to get the best buy.I want a brand new one. No more you need to configure it deal.
Any ideals?
I have been with Endicia two years now.
Endicia has a Zebra Bundle, it seems pricey.
I have looked at PC Universe , crossed off Hippo.
Any ideals?

You'll love it. I ordered with Endicia, I realized they were not the cheapest, but I knew I was dealing with a reputable company in case there was a problem, and there was with the delivery of it. I love my printer though.

I don't mark anything out, just use as is for USPS shipping. I have a friend who cuts the UPS part off each time and they ship about 125 per week...it seems like a waste of time to me.

Update on thermal printer Zebra LP2844 purchase. I ordered late night Oct19 from PC Universe. It arrived Oct 23. I love love love it, and I do use the USP labels.
My eBaying has been very low , not due to to anything the PREZ has done or not done _just a quip since some take no personal responsibility for their lack of success or failure, everything including the weather, their stress, a corn on their toe it is all GWB fault in their minds' eye
The reason I have not been very active ---on Monday OCT 23 (the same day the thermal printer came) my twin sis went to day surgery to have a 45 minute procedure . Checked in at 7 am should have been home by noon.
It went terribly wrong within hrs she was on FULL life support,I mean Full life support . Flown to Wake Forest Hospital and in CCU for almost two weeks. She is finally "out of the woods'
My listings of winter things has went down the drain ... but that is a minor issue -- my sister is ok is all that matters ----
sorry for the manifesto

She was not brain dead or on the life support for an extended time
She was on a ventilater, cardiac leads, feeding tubes, drainage tubes,Tracheostomy tube, medicine tube, catheter tube ... and I do not not what the heck some tubes were for.
She went it to have gallstone laparoscopic- about 45 minutes procedure. The intestines were cut by accident - she almost bled to death
