I sold something to another seller with over 5000 positive feedbacks, 11 negatives from over a year ago. I went ahead (bad me) and sent his item out when I received his check figuring it would be safe. Well, the check bounced costing me the amount of the sale and $33.99 in fees. Any advice? I've already emailed him. I'm sure he's known this for awhile since it bounced the first week of October. I filed with eBay, but I also want the money he owes in fees.

Isn't it a criminal offense thru the postal system over there to obtain goods by deceit. can you start a process against them thru the postal system.? good luck either way.

If they do not pay, contact the local law and place a complaint with them for passing bad checks.
Unfortunately if the person doesn't want to pay, no collection agency or anything else will get you your money.

call USPS fraud investigation dept-when they send a notice to your seller, they will also send a copy to his local police dept which will send him a letter as well.
So he will get two notices .
But like the prior post said,if he does not want to pay ,what can they do with him??
Have you tried calling him??

Wow...$33.99 in fees for that bounced check. My bank only charges $6.00 when one of my esteemed customers bounces a check. I think I would find a new bank! That charge seems really high. I hope that you can force this buyer to cough up all he owes you. I have had some luck with shaming bad check passers - have you written to him outlining your costs?
Good luck.

usually the person who writes the rubber check pays a hefty fee like 25-35,but the person who deposits the rubber check pays like 5-10 dollars.
Have you talked to your bank why your fee is so high? How is anyone to know if a check is rubber??

Last check I deposited in my bank that bounced cost me $27.50 and that was 2 years ago. Last check I ever took also. $600.00 check from a guy with 160 feedback and the check bounced 28 days after deposit.

Heard from the buyer. He's sending more money. Whew. There were two charges from my bank. The check bounced twice. This time I'm getting a MO! LOL!

I would never deposit a bounced check twice. You'll get hit with bank fees both times.
Was the check payment cancelled by the writer, or did it bounce due to insufficient funds?
If the check was a business check, file a complaint with the BBB. It won't get your money back, but will put a stain on their business record.
If no money order is received, small claims court would be an option.

I didn't deposit it twice, the bank did. Most banks try 2x. It bounced due to insufficient funds. Hopefully, the buyer and I have it all straightened out. Thanks everyone for your help.
