I have a glass seving tray up for auction. I've described it as no chips or cracks, but has utensil marks that disappear when tray is setting on the table.
Potential buyer has emailed me and asks me to rate the tray from one to ten. PITA

That has never happened to me, and I'm not sure how I'd do that! Maybe a 7, since the utensil marks disappear. . . . Please let us know the person's reaction to however you rate it. Just curious.

Tell him that the "utensil marks" are actually light scratches that were incurred when you were retrieving it from the dumpster behind the 99 cent store.

I say don't give it a numerical rating, but be very clear with him/her about your return policy. Maybe you could take some extra pix and send them to him.

I agree with pelorus. Don't give a number rating over something so subjective. It can only cause a reason for the item to be returned.
