Up to one pound is now $3.85, isn't it? That would be one heck of a jump.

What about media? Any word on if it will even exist?

The increase in the cost of buying a money order which does not have any connection to the increase in gasoline cost just does not make sense. One can buy a M.O. at any grocery store or 7-11 etc. much cheaper. Also Could it be be Priorty mail 1-2 pounds $6.15 up from $5.75. That is a full 40 cents. Priority mail up to 1 lb. is now $3.85 Maybe that is the base rate because the difference between $4.05 and $3.85 is .20 cents

That would make sense.

Thanks.

Anyone know about media? I am trying to sell thousands of records in groups and lots (making them very heavy) under my second ID and won't be even half way through by January.

Is this rate increase for this coming January 2006 or a year from January? Don't they usually give a year or so advance notice?

I read on another board that this is a small increase for this year and a larger one will be coming in January of 2007.

This one was requested because of the change in retirement fund savings required by some bill that passed.

The large increase coming in 2007 is for the gas increases and costs of all the mail forwarding due to the hurricanes.

Not so good news for media mail, they are calling for a 12.7% increase. I can't find specific details, but that would make a 1 pound media mail package increase from $1.42 to $1.60 - I've heard eDC is going up a penny, so a package with eDC would go from $1.55 to $1.74. This definitely sucks, I do extensive media mail shipping with a free shipping offer with minimum purchase. I'll definitely be raising my shipping rates, and will have to evaluate my business model again. It's a PITA to have to "evaluate" this so often, but that is the modern world - Everything changes quickly. Hopefully it won't kill off business to much!
