Ok, the holiday buying season rush is almost here. That's great. More sales. So am I the only one that thinks this time of the year is the WORST time to be doing upgrades to systems. Vendio, Ebay, Paypal and probably anyone else you can think of has either done, is doing or is planning on doing them soon. Does this not seem to be a DUMB idea??? Would you not want to do system upgrades in the off season or do these people enjoy pissing everyone off when the buying boom is starting to kick in. They seem to spend all year thinking up great ideas that are UNTESTED and launching the upgrades in the high traffic season. Is it there intention to make the sellers life miserable? If it is they do a good job at it. Why can't they wait until let's say the day AFTER Christmas or does that make to much sense. I understand that they are TRYING to make the sellers and buyers life and selling or buying experience easier and quicker but inevitably it alway's seems to backfire and cause more problems than sollutions which for me and I am sure most of you ends up causing lost sales, extra time fixing problems they create, massive hair loss and a large red spot on the front of your forehead from banging your head on your desk or keyboard. Come on people, do us all a huge favor and let thing's alone until AFTER the holiday's. Ahh, I feel better now

I worked in IT for 30 years, many of those years at investment banks where the year end was an important time for financial records (nothing related to the holidays, but because they had to "close the books" on the year).

We always had a freeze from around late November on any releases other than a bug fix, and the bug fixes had to be double-tested with a sign-off much higher up the food chain than normal.

In two of the organizations I worked for, we had a very good record for releasing software that worked, without flaws, immediately after release (a much better record than eBay and related vendors). We still didn't release software around the end of the year. We all wanted to, because we were excited by what we had developed, but we understood what asymmetrical risk is.

It is like cutting my nose off to spite my face, but there is a part of me that hopes eBay really blows it.

What have they done to Sales Manager? I feel like I am looking at stock market graphs of my sales performance here! (Do I really need to see all this everytime I log in?

...and it doesnt look like there is an option to disable that view...and paypal shipping is down...Oy vey! they are giving me a headache already this morning!!)

Paypal is totally hosed this morning!

I tried to pay for a transaction using my credit card and received an error page that told me to NOT resend payment until later because it might be duplicated.

Then the next thing I know, I receive an email saying the payment is being deducted from my checking account! I am PZ'd!

Now I have to go make a bank deposit because I usually do not keep money in that account. I only use that account to withdraw funds FROM Paypal. GRRRRrrrr!

DF, I haven't tried to do any postage this morning. Maybe you will get lucky and it will actually work. I would definitely give it at least one try before I went to the P.O.

Just don't try to make any credit card payments

And. . . Half.com came up with many "enhancements" a couple of weeks ago. If I were the queen of Ebay, I'd have a peon like you or me sitting in a corner (paid, of course), listing on Ebay and dealing with all the "enhancements". I'd make it mandatory that all involved MUST listen to the peon.

Roadsmith, that spot is occupied by the acquisitions researcher. feeBay has to spread itself out as far as possible, in the hope that more surface area will slow it's descent as it sinks........ maybe a good choice will buoy it up.

Ohhhhh, Joy To The World!!!!!!!!! I had to open my mouth by starting this thread and jinxing myself. Wow, guess what, no one can pay for my auctions using paypal this morning. I have had a bunch of buyers email me this morning saying that the paypal redirect link does not work. As was forseen by Vendio in their note, paypal's system upgrade may cause problems. Well gosh oh golly gee, it is.
