Just wondering has this ever happened to anyone.

I notice a $60 charge on my credit card today from Fedex. I haven't used Fedex for like over 6 months...

Logged into my Fedex account and it looks like some dude shipped an Express Priority package from VA to like South Dakota or something *shrug* (I live in CA)

Fedex most likely made the mistake, as I don't exactly hand out my Fedex account number, and there's little chances it got leaked.

I'm also wondering, if this has happened to you before, how easy wasy it for them to refund you the fees? The kicker is the charge was posted yesterday but I didn't find out until today, and Fedex billing is closed today (Saturday).

The second kicker is, I just did a large balance transfer so my credit card limit is now over the limit thanks to a $60 charge.

Yay. If I'm lucky Chase wont charge me an over the limit fee, if I'm even more lucky they won't jack the 0% rate up to some default 23.99%

Thanks Fedex! (I would have moved the credit card from the profile but there isn't an option to do that.)

If Fedex does not 'make you whole' this is what causes litigation.

Someone got in a hurry to ship a FedEx package and got a couple numbers transposed when they were filling out the shipping papers and writing in the account number and the resulting account number was yours. Happens more often than you think. Call FedEx Monday and they can straighten it out.

I had this happen last year on my UPS account. The only difference was it was close to 9 packages. Someone was using my account number to ship their packages. Called UPS and they verified that the packages had not been sent from my address and they credited my account. I have since switched to DHL and have never had a problem with them. I have tried Fed Ex and UPS and found I like DHL the best. Best prices, super service and the friendliest people you will ever talk to on the phone. If I were you I would keep a eye on my account and make sure no other suspicious charges appear.

thanks for the replies.

well I'm going to call fedex first before I call my credit card company, don't really want to deal with them believing if "fedex made a mistake charging me" is an excuse or not.

if they raise my rate or gave me some overlimit fee, I may have better chance of getting those reversed if fedex fix the problem and credit my account.

nothing much I can do now but wait I guess. doh.

I once signed up through E bays(actually I Really think it was Pay pals???) UPS shipping thing,,,thinking I would save money instead of using the folks next doors account...as soon as I was in their system packages were being SENT and BILLED to ME.......By someone in San Diego,,,,,I forget most of the nightmare now like two years ago,,,He Knew EXACTlY what he was doing! I called UPS and told them,,No problem they said,,,End of problem,, NOT,, this happened over and over and over,,,,I called them EVERYTIME,,,no problem was the SAME reply,, then I got ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! the ONLY way I ended this problem was to CANCELL the ACCOUNT number. NEVER used EBAYS (PP's) UPS system AGAIN!

Keep on keepin' on.

I've had two wierd charges from Fedex on my account - both for $10 after shipping a package with them. I talked to the guys at Fedex/Kinkos yesterday - they say it's been a major nightmare since Fedex bought Kinkos - lots of problems, new software, poor training, etc.

I am in australia. on the rare occasion that i call fedex, i find that i am talking to someone in india. fedex call centres are located in india. at least for australia. perhaps for the u.s.a. as well. i have found that the people in india are prone to lots of mistakes. i now refuse to use fedex because of the mistakes that these people are making.

Caroline...Whenever a sudden $10.00 charge appears on your account, it is usually because FedEx caught a mistake the shipper made and had to correct it. Most often, it's for entering the wrong zip code. It can also be for them having to remove old bar code labels, or marking out hazmat markings. Whenever you take a package to Kinkos, make sure you have done all the paperwork, including making a correct label, checking all the appropriate boxes on the shipping manifest, and signing the manifest. The clerk at the counter should not have to pick up an ink pen or write anything on the papers. All he needs to do is enter the information that you provided into the terminal. As soon as you get back home, enter those tracking numbers into the section on "My FedEx" and double check that the info that got transmitted to FedEx is indeed correct.
