I had a buyer buy a $5.00 item from me last week. She paid with an e check and it took 4 days to clear. On the 3rd day she emailed me wanting to know why I had not shipped yet. I explained that she paid with an echeck and when it cleared I would ship. It cleared the following day and I shipped that same morning.

She sent me a request 2 days following asking for feedback. I do not leave feedback until it's left for me ~ a practice I've adopted since coming to the boards and selling more than I had in the past.

I answered her politely and told her that I use an automated feedback system that returns feedback after it's left for me.

She sent me ANOTHER email tonight saying "still no feedback, hurry and leave it, thanks."

I checked her feedback. 70%, 4 positives, 3 negatives. She leaves bad feedback it seems in haste. She has 1 mutually withdrawn.

I don't know what to do. I dont' want to take a negative from this person over this but I'm afraid to leave her a feedback first because of her emails and track record.

Help!

Send another email stating you use an automated feedback system. Don't leave anything for her first. Her track record for leaving feedback isn't very good.

Give yourself some wiggle room on this one.

That's what my boyfriend said to do.

I'm afraid she's going to neg me either way ~ one for waiting, the other for hesitating.

She never responded to my last email, sent through My eBay, about the automated feedback.

Send the next email direct, not thru eBay.

Helga,

re-read what you wrote - "I do not leave feedback until it's left for me...I checked her feedback. 70%, 4 positives, 3 negatives. She leaves bad feedback..."

duh...wake up and smell the coffee! do NOT leave this person fb first.

what i've done in the past with potentially troublesome people like this is, i say i respond in kind to fb left...they can read the handwriting on the wall that way, that fb is a two-way street. have never gotten a neg from anyone where it got to the point that i said i "respond in kind."

if you emerge unscathed from this, block her. she'll probably be gone soon anyway, with a fb of only 70% positive.

I've already blocked her.

I am not going to email her tonight, I'm going to wait until I get up. I have the flu so this is the last thing I want to deal with tonight ~ especially over a $4.75 Dumbo item.

Thanks for the advice ~ keep it coming

See if you can explain to this buyer that FB is exchanged at the completion of the transaction & that is when she FIRST leaves FB letting you know she is satisfied with her purchase.

Auction is over, everyone is happy & then it's your turn to respond.

I definitely would not leave her feedback first on this one. I did get a negative once for not leaving feedback first, but the way I look at it, I've avoided many others by not leaving feedback first (and using mutual withdraw as a weapon against undeserved negative feedback) - You've already told her about the automated process and blocked her, so I wouldn't be answering any more questions.

I am curious. as a seller a lot of you expect the buyer to leave the first feedback. but what about when you are the buyer. do you leave the first feedback.?

i don't leave it first as a buyer or as a seller. too busy, really. if i get it, i reciprocate. if i don't, oh well, too bad, so sad. i guess i have enough of it at this point that i don't really care one way or the other.

As a buyer, I honestly don't care about feedback. I'm not buying feedback, but the item. I will leave it if I get around to it, regardless of whether it has been left for me or not. I think WAY too many buyers are hung up on feedback!

Helga -- Whenever anyone asks me to leave feedback first, I write back saying this:

"I'm sorry, but I do not participate in Ebay's feedback system; however, as a courtesy, I do leave feedback left in kind."

Works every time!

Agate -- As a buyer, I leave feedback first. It let's the seller know I've received the item and am satisfied with the transaction.

Yes Agate as a buyer I do leave feedback first. I don't expect it back as a buyer and I do leave it first, I always have.

But I got an underserved negative early in my selling career by leaving feedback first, before I discovered this and eBay's board and before I started higher volume selling.

I have composed this email to send to this person:

Good morning again!

Because feedback is exchanged at the completion of a transaction when both a buyer and a seller are satisfied I implemented an automated feedback system that returns feedback once it is left for me. Once positive feedback is placed in my profile the program I use returns it in kind.

Thanks again for everything ~ have a GREAT weekend!

********

I have not sent it yet. I will send it later this morning.

I think this person might be desperate for feedback from me because the rest of her feedback is so bad. I'll be happy to leave it for her ~ after I know she's not going to neg me for waiting to send her item when she paid with an echeck or haggling over feedback.

The correct thing, in my not-so-humble-opinion, would have been to ignore every email from her after her first WISMO.

There are people out there whose own inner demons have to have total control of the transaction. They know you have an irrational fear of receiving a negative feedback and will work on that fear to make you dance to their tune.

Since I pointed this out to you more than once well over a year ago, "Helga", I conclude that you enjoy dancing.

If you ever want to stop gyrating and take charge of your own business, let us know.

WHy are you being so rude?

I came here for advice, not to be belittled.

I've done really well with my business. I started with nothing and have progressed very well.

I've read your posts before and know that you think you are better than everyone. If you have nothing constructive to offer me I'd appreciate nothing from you.

It was so peaceful when you were not here. Too bad that's over now.

I was just asking for advice. I realize what she was saying but there is a nicer way of saying things.

At any rate, this crazy person emailed me again this morning wanting to know where her feedback was, I sent the email to her and she left me positive feedback finally.

I returned a positive and that's that.

I dont like people begging for feedback. It really bothers me.

As a buyer I leave it when I receive my items ~ I've left every single person I've bought from on my buying ID a positive and not all return it. But I don't beg and plead the ones who don't to leave me feedback.

As an occasional buyer, I will leave feedback as soon as the item arrives, if it arrives in the condition stated in the auction. If not, I contact the seller for an explanation. I don't care if the seller leaves feedback or not.
As a seller, I've learned the hard way not to leave feedback first.

Helga

The best thing would have been to ignore her from the beginning. I get these emails from time to time and just ignore them. I am less likely to leave any feedback at all for those that appear to be begging for it. Wouldn't it be nice to just "neg" them for even pestering you about it? "You wanted feedback? Well, here it is. . .". LOL!

Pout about Big Bad Fluffy all you like. It doesn't change the fact that

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IS IRRELEVANT!

"Irrelevant" means "makes absolutely no difference whatsoever". Means "it doesn't matter". Means "you're using up valuable time and psychic energy obsessing over NOTHING".

What is the POINT of even selling on eBay if you refuse to learn the basics?

Or if you stubbornly block any useful bit of information that doesn't have maple syrup poured on it?

I don't get it. I honestly don't.

I don't even know how many negs I have. Hundreds, probably. So what? I still sell on eBay, and I sell a LOT. I have 188 auctions up at the moment and I can predict with accuracy that I will get at least 96% sellthrough, probably more like 98%. I know exactly what my costs are and I will make a profit on every single one.

Sheesh. Why do I bother...

Helga Helga Helga. The flu has gotten the best of you tonight <big grin>

Fluffy is ----- Fluffy.

Like Jack is Jack.

Takes all kinds to make the world go 'round and it's a better place with them.

It's kind of like your first Neg on Ebay - getting hit on by Fluffy is like a badge of honor here Consider yourself proud.

Now the REAL question is why you "think" you need to keep manifesting these situations for yourself - Flu - Eviction - Stolen Pocketbook - Computer......

Life is supposed to be good! You don't have to create drama to be heard. Flu would be wanting to be taken care of and pampered a little........hope it's working out for you

Although it's a great way to check out a relationship on either side (illness - will you be THERE for me?) (you haven't lived until you've seen your significant Other sick, nor he you) it's not necessary to create anything to be noticed.

Hope you don't read this until in the morning when you're feeling a little better!

Don't pick on Fluffy - I've missed her!

Sad, really.
