Well the paypal monster finally decided to eat me after years peacful coexistence. Here is the story. I bought 300 xbox 360's to sell on ebay. Ebay thinks I look suspicous after a bunch of sales so they prevent me from selling in that category while they check out my invoices etc. Paypal however locks my account with $30K in it and I have to fax in piles of receits, documents and the kicker is tracking numbers. I have all the proper documentation, but everyone knows you cant sell a 360 till after the 22nd and all my auctions state they ship on or before december 1st. So Im supposed to ship all this out and assume paypal won't keep my funds forever. Also I cant ship or print labels from paypal anymore so my easy method to tell who has been shipped by what date is gone. The funny part is I saw this coming and called paypal a week in advance and asked them what can I do to make sure we have no problems now that I am selling ten times the usual amount. They assured me there would be no problems just do business as normal. Dear Paypal - You Suck.

I think I would harass a lot of people for $30K

Start by finding the emails for these people. I should think your email subject with this posted topic should get their attention!

https://www.paypal.com/au/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/team-outside

don't forget to email Meg and Bill since feebay owns PP.

And while you are at it, find the Powersellers 800 # and let them in on the fun.

Good Luck!

Toben, you can 'batch' orders in USPS.com - it may not be quite as threadable to your sales as PP Shipping, but it will keep track of your shipping history with addresses and dates. I think you even can copy it over into word or some other format as well. Edit to add: You have to use priority mail in case anyone didnt know that. and Come to think of it, for shipping you can open a fedex online account and use that....

- Thats alot of money to be tied up! Hope you get some reprieve.

Toben - I see you are using Vendio - do you also subscribe to Vendio Post-Sale Managemen? YOu can keep track of what has and hasn't been shipped in Vendio if you do.

Why cant you sell/ship them? Are they not out for retail sales yet? - Is that it?
The internet selling market is renown for coming out with things faster than every where else...So is it a legal thing then?

Microsoft set the release date as the 22nd. You can do presales but they cannot be shipped prior to release date.

With only 300 units, how hard can it really be to track what has shipped and when?

I'm shipping 200 units a week. I have a shipping record for each generated in Shipping Assistant, but even if I didn't, a yellow legal pad and a #2 pencil would still do the trick. I *never* mark anything as "shipped" on eBay. Why bother?

A paypal account with $30,000 in it, are you nuts? I almost never would let mine accumulate over $1000, for the vary reason you are having a problem right now. They can arbitrarily shut you down!

if she wants to pay her supplier via Paypal.
dropshipping, presales, selling merchandise you dont have, always look brilliant on paper and in reality, could turn into a nightmare.

Usually if you pay suppliers it's in a negotiable form or bank transfer at discounted rate for cash. I'd never leave $30 let alone $30k with a non regulated psuedo bank like PayPal. Stick with banks and you won't get burnt, or you'll have Federal Banking law to back you up.

there are suppliers who will accept paypal, the ones who sell wholesale on internet.
even DELL computer site is now accepting paypal.
I think Paypal will unlock her account as she has not done anything wrong,if it wont release the fund, she cant pay her supplier and ship the boxes and the bidders will start to complain or file chargeback with their cc issuers, then it really becomes a nightmare for both her and Paypal.

God I hate Paypal - here I was furious about my $150 being held for a non-receipt complaint - even though the buyer has now received the item which was held up in customs. You're right. They do suck.

Thanks everyone for your advise. Paypal liked all the documentation I sent them and say they will lift the ban when I provide tracking codes on my orders. Meanwhile I used google adwords and overture advertise my xbox website and I am averaging $6 a sell at my website in advertising costs instead of the $30-$40 fee on ebay for a $600 item.

Anyone have a positive experience with paypal actually lifting the ban once you provided the documentation they wanted?

Yikes...on the x-boxes!! It's all over the news they are hot hot hotcakes on ebay.

Toben, maybe you sold too early...hope you have more to get in on this wave!

(Seems college kids are lining up at the stores to resell them on ebay.)

Why on earth are you using PayPal when you get 30K. With that amount of sales, merchant accounts only charge a straight 1.1% and are much safer.

Update: Paypal finally unlocked my account three weeks later after I faxed in documentation of everything and refunded everyones money. Ebay has yet to unlock my account and continues to reply to my inquiries with answers that show they are not even reading what I am sending them.

Meanwhile I sold close to $200K on my own website in one week due to running ads on msn yahoo overture google and contextual ads on several related sites.

This was so succesful and so much cheaper than eBay that I am starting a new line of business to help other customers advertise their products outside of ebay for higher profits.

If anyone wants help driving traffic to your own website let me know and I will be glad to help.
